$25K for what?

$30K charters arent great on space are they? can you give examples of manufacturers? does $30K include expenses and gratuity? megayachts that run hundreds of thousands / millions a week look incredible, but understandably owners dont allow charters to resell rooms.

(lots of) different markets which have different customers

when cruiselines are doing as well as they are, one 149-cabin probably not hard to handle

knows cruise industry pretty well >

I hear you, Pausarias, about the need for heavy furniture on aboard yet am certain it could be more artfully constructed.

Meanwhile I am doubtful there ever could be genuine luxury cruises at prices accessible to most in that demographic. The current ostensible luxury cruise lines are utter crap.

I have had a mantra ever since I started cruising -

It's where you are going that counts, not the ship that takes you there.

In which case I'd only take the Staten Island Ferry in one direction to Manhattan.

Estimating these Ritz Carlton cruises are going to run well into the 5-figures per person. 2 people = 25K +

On one end of the spectrum, you could charter S/Y Peresus, a 200' Perini-Navi, that goes for about $360k + 10% tip per week. Or on the other end of the spectrum, if 200' is too intimidating, you could go as low as $20k/week on a CNB 76 in the BVIs http://ocean-yacht-charter.com/detai...or-charter-904.

I would think that the prices won't be quite that high.. sure perhaps the "brochure" price will be but I think we will probably see prices around 900-1000 per person per day. For instance, Crystal Espirit has 31 cabins and typically sees a brochure rate of about 12K per week but looks like actual prices are more 6K. I don't believe that RC will be able to command a price premium that much higher than the rest of the other smaller ship brands... precisely for the reason that at 25K/week people are going to start looking at charter options...

I bet the prices you list will be cut in almost half within 2-years.

multiple cruiselines can run (not start at) $2K a night
only regent starts closer to that, because of their bundling

1 ship isnt big deal, didnt announce 10 ships in progress
economy/travel up, any recession would impact everyone

looking at some of the numbers >
"options" for 2 more, presume 'as early as' Q1 2021/2022
may 2018 public reservations (charter/group before)
sep 30 2018 as early as if same "30 month" build
sep 30 2019 as early as if same "30 month" build
dec 27 2019 delivery "30 month" from jun 27 2017

ritzcarlton.com/en/yachts
include overnight and daytime ports of call
149 cabins

Prothero pointed to a survey that found 405,000 Ritz-Carlton hotel guests had also taken a cruise in the past year.

first ship will sail in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

"All suites onboard will have a far greater ceiling height than in any cruise ship suite," Prothero said,

dozen duplex cabins will offer innovative layouts ideal for in-room entertaining, Prothero said, while other cabins can be combined into larger rooms through soundproof, blind doors.

no casino

Ritz-Carlton Yacht has a long-term agreement to manage the venture, including its marketing which will be done by a dedicated sales staff in Miami...ships, which are being financed by the private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management and senior management.

Travel agents said they were pleased to have another potential sales avenue for their luxury clientele.

Talking charters as competition to (small) ocean cruise lines is like talking ocean ships versus river boats in same sentence. Only similarity being that all three float on water.

I disembarked a Regent ship last Friday in Iceland, having sailed across from Canada and Greenland (which was a revelation by the way).

I mentioned this Ritz Carlton initiative to several passengers and no one had heard of it. And Regent (and also Seabourn and Silversea) offer enormous incentives to book another cruise when on board - big discounts and upgrades, including Business Class air travel etc.

RC will have to work extremely hard to tempt people off their current cruise lines/ships of choice.

1 ship - 149 cabins

there is likely great market for selling ship(s) if owner (who?) decides to cease
