Delta Premium Select - "W" class?
I will be booking a flight from LAX-SYD for a March 2018 trip and have a question about what class to book. Delta will be revamping the 777 with the new Premium Select class, which I believe will still be listed as "W". I've read pricing won't be available until Fall, but I can purchase "W" class now, which is still considered Comfort +. If I book now, will I have a premium standard seat when the adjustment is made in the fall?

I don't believe so. First of all, I doubt the 777s will have the new cabin installed before March 2018, and second, I am sure the price difference between the current C+ fare (which is actually an add-on on top of economy class for this route) and Premium Select will be substantial.

PS will not be using the W fare class. PS will use PAG on international flights.

You're not the first to mention this so I'm sure you're correct, but any idea why? W is usually used with other ST carriers for Premium Economy, yet DL decided to stick it on C+ seats which is totally confusing.

It's because they used W for C+ and with no IFC PAG isnt currently used on international flights.

Once they used E for Basic Economy, there were no more free letters left in the alphabet and W probably seemed the best fit at the time.

DL has already switched to using PAG fare classes for code-shared VS Premium Economy flights. AF and AZ flights still use W fare class. Either way, Premium Economy can be identified in the fare code where the second to last character is a 'U'. C+ fares have a 'C' for the second to last character.

I personally like the use of PAG as opposed to just W, not because of anything specifically to do with PAG themselves, but having multiple fare codes means that it will be easier to tell the relative pricing and fare rules as opposed to a catchall W with a number of underlying fare bases.
