Consolidated "Renting at RDU; What Kind of Cars to Expect?" Thread
Had a better than usual experience with the PC section at the Hertz by RDU the other day. Saw a Camry, Charger and a bunch of SUVs.
Went with a low mileage Mazda 3 though which is generally what I prefer when renting from Hertz - the Mazda 3s Hertz has are all 2016s, have newer safety features and usually handle better than anything else they have on the lot.
Are the SUVs in the PC area a significant upcharge? Some of them were full size...

I was at Raleigh Durham (RDU) earlier. I was in in a rush so I didn't get a good look but it was mostly assorted Nissan Altimas and Kia Optimas and Hyundai Sonatas. In presidents circle I saw 2-3 Chrysler 300s and an Infiniti sedan.
This location also had the Shelby GT-H on prominent display - not part of ultimate choice though.

RDU 4 day rental. Booked D Class. Presidential Circle Ultimate Choice.
Infiniti Sedan(2900 Miles what I chose).
2-3x of the small Infiniti Crossover
Multiple Caddy Sedans
Minivan
Few other more standard cars
Impressed for my first visit. Zero hassle at gate. Just asked if I wanted to pre-pay gas and if I wanted email receipt/contract or printed.

Well I just returned from RDU Hertz rental. Booked Premium G class and yet again no assigned stall, just five star. I went to the desk and was instantly told the same thing as last time, just take anything from President's Circle. So this is now twice in two weeks were knee jerk reaction from staff was to instantly go take from President's Circle. I would have used my Icar res. to upgrade for $35 but there was only 1 car in the upgrade section (Audi A3) which was too small for my intended use.
So does Premium G class now mean President's circle access? I am sure this will ruffle some PC member's feathers.

In your particular case, you were allowed to choose from a status level higher than what you are but granted this may work for or against you, depending on whether what they have in the PC section is better/worse than what they would have assigned you had they taken the other approach.

Cadillac is the 'competition'...
I'm a motorsports photographer. I shoot for some teams and manufacturers. One of the big competitors against my teams is Cadillac.
I'm at VIR today working. Shot from today of the Caddy.

Very nice. That makes sense. Both are nice cars and I'm happy when I get either one. Nice shot by the way!

My father tells a story that, many years ago, he was in line at Hertz in Phoenix behind a gentleman who, when offered a Chevy of some sort, said "can't take that, I'm going to the Ford proving ground." He was then offered an Oldsmobile, at which point he repeated "I'm going to the FORD proving ground." They found him a Taurus.

RDU seems to be a nice spot. While returning my q50 there was the huge and midsize infinite SUB. Caddy SUV. Minivan. And a few Nissans. Nice selection.

Rented from RDU & ATL recently, and again have to praise Hertz as I've had good experiences in both places. Great selection available in recent trips. Not too much in the SUV selection, but got a Jaguar on my last trip and saw lots of 300s, a Volvo, and a good number of Infiniti's & Cadillac'sin both locations.

Picked up a car this week on a Monday. I went to the PC aisle which was heavy with SUVs and pick ups but also had a bright orange Mustang and some Camrys.

I ended up selecting a Volvo S80 with 31,000 miles that I hated but I don't blame Hertz for it. The Five Star aisle was heavy on Altimas and the like.
