RJ: 11 Hour Layover at AMM
Hello,
So I'm trying to strategically plan out my award tickets and stuff with my sleep schedule. Unfortunately the only ones out of LHR/ZRH-CAI involve an overnight in AMM for 11 hours. Arrive at 21:40 (9:40) and depart at 08:00 the next day.
I've heard RJ perhaps offers hotel during transit or something? If not what are my options? Staying in the airport, hotels nearby, etc?
Thanks!

You'd have to go to the transit desk to get a voucher and a visa and then clear immigration and board the shuttle bus (they will direct/escort you). The visa is free ,but does not give you a right to leave the hotel grounds (there is a fence around the perimeter of the hotel).
Forget about staying in the airport, not that the airport/lounges are bad,but it's just too long. I would possibly suggest to go to town independently on such a transit, but it's not really applicable here because of night transit.
Feel free to PM me,or post here if you have any questions regarding RJ/AMM.

Yes,absolutely, the policy is to give you a hotel room for transit over 8 hours (slightly less if you are Emerald and subject to availability). The hotel is about 3 minutes away by shuttle bus and they offer you with complimentary meal(s) in the open buffet. It's not a luxury hotel, but it has been renovating in the last few years,so way better than it used to be.

Even if this was through American Airline award tickets (Executive Platinum/ OW Emerald) correct? Just being sure before I get it confirmed/ticketed

Yes,if it is over 8 hours, then it's a guaranteed hotel room, even cheapest Y class gets in and this includes awards. If it is below 8 hours,it depends on the attitude and the mood of the staff on duty, inclduing what they had for breakfast, your politeness, class of booking,FFP status, hotel occupancy rate on the day, weather, exchange rate of MYR to IDR and other relevant and irrelevant factors.

This RJ free hotel, I assume is same rules as other airlines that do this, e.g. ET, QR, that it must be the next available connection? And what about arrivng into AMM on RJ departing on QR? Is this still eligible?

2) No free hotel if connecting to other airlines, unless this was caused by IRROPS.

I noted on my last trip via AMM an internal, airside hotel - entry next door to the airport pharmacy(who is run by THE friendliest and most intelligent young lady).
I wonder what that hotel may be like and if I'm going to be held captive in a landslide hotel and have go through the debacle of a visa plus its costs and be at the mercy of who is staffing the transit service, I think I'd rather stay in the terminal hotel if its available.
Rami any information and pictures regarding this internal terminal hotel?
Thanks

To be fair I think the RJ hotel provision is good, you don't pay the visa fee,or anything for the hotel and you get a 4* hotel room and complimentary buffet meal(s).
I normally go home during the HKG-AMM and AMM-LHR flights transit

Yeah, what you are talking about is a business lounge, accessible by PP/walk up entrance fee. Inside, there were plans to have some kind of MH lounge style slumber rooms, but not the proper hotel style rooms. I don't know for sure if they opened them at the end,but will check.

I asked them about online prebooking and price options on facebook, they liked my post, but never replied.
Maybe I should not cheapen out and and fork out the 30JD or so entrance fee just out of interest.

Politeness and good manners are more likely to achieve results than raised voices and DYKWIA behaviour, as well as being the correct way to behave.
