Booking Delta award flights with Korean miles

I've never flown Delta nor have I ever had any KE miles, but right now Delta looks like the best way to fly to Hawaii next year. I know KE miles can be used to book "saver" Delta flights, but since Delta doesn't have a firm award chart, I'm not clear which flights can be booked with KE and which can't. For example, the lowest award cost for LAX-HNL is 22.5K DL miles, but on my particular dates, it's 27.5K departure and 37.5K return. Does this mean KE miles won't help me here?

Doesn't matter. What matters is KE award availability on DL and KE award charts.

I have 0 KE miles. I want to make sure I make make this DL booking using KE miles before transferring over my Chase UR points. What I'm asking is how can I check DL award availability using KE miles?

Calling KE is your best bet. There isn't an online way of checking/booking IIRC. You will be given the miles and taxes if there is availability. You don't have to have miles in the account first. Safe bet is to try a flight that you see on DL with the lowest miles needed (22.5K?) and then see if they price that out. Then check with the ones that may not have low and see if you have any luck.

Yes, you have to call. You are able to put the ticket on hold without having the miles in your account as well.
