Policy on infants in First? 787-9

Hi all.
I booked a redemption flight from Kuala Lumpur to London in First for my wife and I plus our one year old this December. I selected seats 2F and 2K without any problems - all this was done in January of this year. Roll forward to yesterday and I get an alert from myflights with slight time changes to the flight, followed a few hours later by a text from BA - net result was showing my family still in First but without seats I had originally selected.

I went to the manage your booking page which showed I could select my seats but on the following page did not show open seats. So I rang the call centre who informed me that BA had a policy of no infants in First ("for at least a year") but since I had booked the tickets so long ago she could help with my seat requests. I have now been allocated 1A and 2A. My questions are:

1. Is 2F a bassinet seat in First on the 787-9...lady in call centre said there are no bassinets in First on this aircraft (a couple of threads on FT contradict this)

2. Is there a new policy on infants in First that I haven't heard of? I did not get an answer as to why I could not get my original seats in the cabin (she mentioned that I could request this at the airport).

In short, a bit frustrating to have to waste 45 mins on the phone trying to clear this up. Would appreciate any light that could be shed on this!

Thanks

I think a "No infants in First (BA policy)", implying you can't bring an infant into First, is rubbish (let's have the near-inevitable arguments about whether small children should be in F or not somewhere else, we've all heard it before).

BA does say you can't use Amsafe seats in any premium cabin.

They also say

Carrycots

For your baby's comfort, we have specially designed carrycots on board, so that your baby can sleep during the flight. If you have reserved your seat at a carrycot position, you can ask the cabin crew for a carrycot.

The carrycots supplied by us are:
...
available on all long haul flights (except in the First cabin, and on the London City to JFK service)
which seems to imply that there are no bassinet seats in First, but that is not in agreement with much experience here on FT.

On the basis that a dummy booking allows for an adult and infant in F to KL, we must assume that once again BA's call centre staff are making it up as they go along.

The agent doesn't appear to know what they're talking about. Call again and hopefully you can get your seats reinstated, and maybe a proper explanation (less likely).

What a load of sh**, hang up and try again. You'll find someone who knows that they're doing.
