Heading to Conrad HKG as a Diamond for the first time this summer. Does anyone have experience with their Nor1 e-standbys? Do they usually get fulfilled?

Would prefer a suite and depending on cost, would be willing to pay for if the shot of complementary upgrade is a 50/50 proposition.

My experience on complementary upgrades over perhaps 10 stays is that an upgrade to an executive Peak view room is the norm and to a suite quite rare. I've had suite upgrades twice and only on single night stays.

Thank you for this. Will probably place a Nor1 request.

And/or when the property is overbooked.

I'm 2 for 3 in getting suite upgrades. Those 2 upgrades both occurred in Mid November. Our last stay was over New Years, and the place was packed. We got upgraded to a Peak View Exec Room.

Sounds reasonable. I'll pay for what I want then.

Additionally, because of the taller buildings not all harbor side rooms have unobstructed harbor views. If you "pay for a harbor view", you can be more demanding if you are disappointed with your view. Which was my experience last stay.

Yes, if I'm paying for Harbour view, I don't want to be looking straight at the Shangri-La. They really shouldn't charge more for those rooms.

From my experience paying for a Harbour view is high risk given HK's propensity for fog and smog. I've had Harbour view rooms where you could barely see the Shangri-La

2 Suites per floor, (one HV far end from your room) the other City/mountain view.
You had the "city/mountain View suite" which is a very common upgrade from entry level room type for HHDs here. Staff told me on first visit, they assume HHDs wll prefer the extra space of a View

If you want Harbour View staff will swap you an Exec Room on a floor above 55, as need that high to see over the building between conrad and Harbour.

Since Lounge is high floor with good HV, I'd go with the Suite too.

I think the most useful info here is that even if you check in online they will upgrade you. Some properties will keep you in your selected room even if an upgrade is available.

A great rate to stay now at Conrad HK. Don't know if it's only available in July or Aug. I see the rate is attractive recently. I have an upcoming stay from Jul 5-8 at 1,950 HKD per night. I just got a diamond status last year. Will report how things work out when I return home.
