I do not know if anyone buys AI miles frequently, but I just noticed that they have increased their rate for directly purchasing miles to Rs. 1.25/mile.
They used to sell them at Re. 1/mile since ages.

News: Air India discontinues the practice of offering 10 kgs of extra checked in baggage to Base members of Flying Returns, citing the fact that it already provides 25 kgs of check-in baggage to all and everybody.

No mention about International routes in the mail though AND This means 25kg allowance is going to stay for long now - I assume earlier when it was announced, it was intended to last couple of months only, I assume till Feb 2016

I can only assume so. To announce this and to then stop the extra allowance after 2 months would be very unethical.

Subsequent to the massive changes, I attempted to get the AI-FR account verified by using my non-Indian Address along with my passport copy as adviced by the notification.

It didn't work, despite successful OTP verification of email and Mobile (UAE) by their system.

Called up the AI-FR helpdesk in Mumbai, explained the situation in detail as to how I cannot provide an "ID proof of the P. O. Box in UAE on my passport", only to be redirected to the email address.

Any advice / recourse to the above gridlock..?

So 25kgs is now the default checked-in baggage allowance for all AI flyers? Past Feb 2016, whenever I saw 25kgs printed on my ticket, I assumed it was the base of 15kgs + 10 kgs (Silver club member) . And I kept wondering as to how am I still receiving these 10 extra kgs when their website claims that feature was stopped as of Feb 2016 .

Also, I just received my kit for the Silver club. I have been given a total of 5 Silver cards (no difference between them of course). Is the AI FFP team being proactive by giving us extra cards so that we don't bug them for card replacement in case we lose the card??

Cancellation charge for Golden edge

I am a Golden Edge member and cancelled an Air India economy domestic ticket within 24 hours of departure. The agent informed that I would only get the taxes back since free cancellation is only applicable when ticket is cancelled more than 24 hours before departure.

Is this correct?

I have cancelled domestic flights within 24 hours and the cancellation fee has been INR 200. You should call back I am pretty sure you got a bad agent.

Hi,

I redeemed miles for a Delhi-Hong Kong flight for October. Now possibly there could be a change of plans. If i cancel, will i get my miles back?

Please advise.

Sid
