Tesco CC question - should I contact them pre-emptively?

Had a slightly disastrous purchase of vouchers from Tesco yesterday... essentially I was buying a sofa from Next for Ł510 and I went to the local Tesco to purchase Ł500 in Next vouchers so I could get the clubcard bonus points. The largest denomination they had was Ł20 so I ended up getting 25 x Ł20 vouchers. The checkout person put them through in three batches (and not in multiples of Ł100 despite my request...) Inevitably four of the cards didn't activate so there was a bit of too'ing and fro'ing with supervisors and so on to figure out how to deal with this. (Their chip/pin machine then refused to take my BMI Amex so lost out on lots of Avios by paying with BMI Mastercard )

My question is: are the 150 bonus points x 10 (ie Ł50 x 10) likely to post automatically, or should I contact Clubcard proactively? The total amount I purchased was Ł500, all from the same till at roughly the same time (total time was about 10 minutes at the till) but at their request, and then because of the cards not all activating, it ended up being 3 separate transactions.

I'm aware it usually takes about 4 weeks for bonus points to post but don't want to miss out on the bonus if it goes wrong - especially after the hassle!!

Thanks for any suggestions. (Edit: It occurred to me as I was walking out the Tesco that I could have just bought a voucher from them online, in one go, for no hassle... if only I'd thought of that 20 minutes earlier...)

What does it say on your receipts? If the points are not on the receipt, then they are unlikely to magically appear on your Clubcard account I would think. I am not sure what Clubcard would be able to do if you contact them "pro-actively".

Next time, I would buy a maximum of Ł100 gift cards per transaction per checkout.

Do online vouchers get the bonus CC points? Also, will Next tills be able to cope with 25 gift cards? I know Debenhams can only take 3 gift cards per transaction, so when I was trying to make a large purchase, I had to buy several items less than Ł150, then refund them onto a single gift card, multiple times before being able to finally buy the item I actually wanted

You mean Tesco online gift card shop? I tried to buy Ticketmaster vouchers from them a while back, and was capped at Ł100 for one transaction if I remember correctly. Also they don't accept Amex online either. So I ended up just driving to Tesco to buy the TM vouchers as I needed Ł150 and wanted to put it on my BAPP.

Three receipts show 1350 points (when I was expecting 1500)

I presume the clubcard system won't automatically correct this to 1500 (as I made 10 x Ł50 purchases) and I'll need to contact customer services to have it amended?

Next checkout handled the gift cards without incident. (Have had bonus points before from online gift store but hadn't remembered about them not taking Amex or cap - thanks for reminder!)

If they are on your receipt then they will arrive in your online account statement in the next few days.

For the sake of 150 Clubcard points you may want to consider if it is worth the time or effort to claim them.
