Do any of Marriott properties (hotels branded as Marriott, JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance, or Edition) in London have laundry rooms with self-service coin-op (or complimentary) washers and dryers?

We're going to spend a week in London as part of a 3-week European Vacation. We don't want to bring enough luggage for 3 weeks of clothing.

I'm not looking for a laundry service or dry cleaning service. I've learned the hard way that when Marriott.com says "laundry on-site," it only means that the hotel's laundry service uses machines that are somewhere within the building rather than miles away. I've also learned the hard way that third party hotel booking sites cannot be trusted for laundry information.

Cost is not the primary factor (although hotel prices tend to be ridiculous).

We're looking for the ability to put our dirty clothes into a washer (and then into a dryer) ourselves, resulting in clean, dry clothes. We want our clothes to stay under our control. We want them washed and dried at temperatures we choose with the products we choose.

If anyone reading this thread has experience with self-service laundry at London Marriott-family hotels -- either success or disappointment -- I would appreciate replies.

Thank you!

Hello FTers,
Can anyone hint on if there is a Marriott hotel in London which allows/has 3 single/twin beds in a room?
I have checked and apologize for not finding many.
Thanks

I use the launderette 3 blocks from St. Pancras Renaissance. It's either do it yourself or they also have a wash and fold service for others that may prefer this.

You can also search for Launderette near other Marriott properties. Do not search for Laundromat as that is an American term and will yield zip.

Not sure, but the St. Ermin's has a family room with 2 queens that will take a rollaway. It also has two bathrooms. Grosvenor House has a family room with a King that takes two rollaways.

I did some Googling, it seems there are no launderettes in Mayfair. There is a launderette north of Marble Arch called the Lila Launderette. It's at 11 Seymour Pl, London W1H 5AN, United Kingdom. It's walkable from Marriotts in Mayfair (Park Lane, Grosvenor House, or Grosvenor Square), though not convenient.

A TripAdvisor review of the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel praises the hotel because "Complimentary laundry room including soap is a bonus." That would be great if it's true. If I can confirm that, I'll switch my Grosvenor House reservation to Grosvenor Square.

I don't understand why not all Marriott properties have guest laundry rooms, with complimentary or coin-op washers and dryers. Not every guest uses laundry rooms, but not every guest uses exercise rooms, business centers, or other common Marriott hotel features.

Whats the rationale for that? As a Gold I've always been granted lounge access at Renaissance properties.

You can read the property specific thread for the rationale.

I see several posts mentioning a stay at the County Hall with kids. I have two children who will be ages 13 and 11 next summer when we will be visiting London. The Marriott website does not allow for 4 guests per room to be booked (unless I am doing something wrong). It will be myself, wife and the two kids.

I am sure we could easily fit into two doubles, but I am curious as to what most of you all have done with similar circumstance? I would hate to arrive at the hotel to learn that they do hold firm to the rule or even worse have the room not be able to accommodate us by being too small.

The hotel does seem to be a perfect fit as far as location to the tourist stuff, lounge access for Plat Premier, etc. Thanks in advance!

Confirmed - I recently asked the hotel via facebook, and they confirmed this approach - book for three, then contact the hotel to make them aware that they should not upgrade you to a nicer King room.

Greetings - Dirk

Elementary, My Dear Watson (er, Horace)! Providing these facilities would cannibalize their paid laundry revenue, which is quite substantial. Heck, most hotels would, if only they could, stop giving out free tea/coffee sachets and a kettle in the room.

If you stay at Marriott GS, you might try Blanc, 79 George St. It's not self serve, but the price is very reasonable compared to hotel laundry as they charge by the kilo not per item. The only downside is that regular service takes a couple of days. Whatever you do I would avoid Buckingham across the street from GS - absurdly high prices.

Has anyone ever had drinks at "The Luggage Room" bar at Grosvenor Square? I saw this mentioned in an article: "The hotel also boasts an award-winning speakeasy cocktail bar, The Luggage Room, which is accessed through a secret door and is located in the hotel’s original luggage room."

Hotel website says this: The Luggage Room
"Tucked away in the corner of Grosvenor Square, The Luggage Room draws on the spirit of the Roaring Twenties. It’s an intimate London Cocktail bar, effortlessly oozing style and decadence. Amid the fine liquor displays, handmade wine cabinets and period curiosities, you can watch while cobblers, cups and punches are carefully created around you.In the 1920s the infamous ‘Bentley Boys’ would turn heads in glamorous Mayfair. Bars would buzz to the sound of jazz and the in-crowd would sip Highballs and Martinis in their own inimitable style. Crafted to charm and delight our Mayfair bar has a nod towards the nostalgia for the past with its feet firmly in the present."

Sounds interesting.

Cheers.

I'm at the Park Lane starting late next week. Another guy on this trip is at the Square and he's said it's sort of like the bar at The Dukes (supposedly an Ian Fleming hangout, classic martinis et al). So I'll be over there to check out the Luggage Room & report back.
