A bit better, but you can also get SFO->DFW->NRT->CGK->HKG->DFW->SFO for $772 for 23k miles making it 3.34cpm.

I'm sure this can be done a bit cheaper -- looking at the fare rules, it looks like theres a 3 day min-stay (or at least difference from departure date), but free stopover in HNL may be possible.

Also available ex-AUS on AA-prime 787 transPacific flights (take advantage of free MCE).

For me, I'm looking at a 2016 mileage run in April:
AUS-DFW-ORD-NRT-CGK/SIN-NRT-ORD-DFW-AUS (with a cheap positioning flight CGK-SIN)
21,449 miles (before 500 minimums) at $809 = 3.77 cpm

Do you have a link to the Google Flights that shows this?

That won't be an AA code though, right? Are you sure you don't end up with less miles overall?

Ugh, you're right, its QF and its Q class, and you end up only get 25% miles on that segment.

http://goo.gl/flights/BszE

question, what would an iberia codeshare (BA metal) flight from SIN-SYD earn, in Q class, 80% (if it counts as IB) or 100% (if it counts as BA)

Finally another Austinite ! - got a question for you!

So did you book this trip as a MR for 2016 without waiting to see if AA will change its rules and go the same way as Delta , United and start basing status on revenue instead of MQM and MQP ?

Second question - did you do MR for this year to achieve either Plat or Ex-Plat status ? I am torn between trying to get to Ex Plat but it would require at least 3 longs runs of 23-25K miles and 1 short run.. only done 16K miles this year.. any advise ?

I already qualified this year, and I need to go to SE Asia anyways in spring so this just worked out. Even if they change to revenue, I'll still get almost 50k RDM miles for ~700 bucks. I don't NEED to be in jakarta, but i figure i can just grab an air asia flight. I'd prefer if it was KL or SIN, and not CGK, but that seems to be always where the deals are

Why not hop over from CGK to SIN on a cheap ticket or avios? :P it's so close!

Also if you've only flown 16k miles this year, I wouldn't worry about spending so much money on Ex Plat. Not worth it just for the sake of it to spend so much on it. The value you'd get out of it is arguably less.

What if they change the RDM to be like UA/Delta and just based on fare paid? You may not end up with 50K RDM...
