Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Deluxe river view paid night and two nights award. Given large executive suite overlooking the Danube and Buda.
How are the rooms?
Huge living room with long wall to wall window. An awesome view as this hotel has IMHO the best location in Pest. A good sized bedroom facing the Sofitel on the opposite side of the building. However a relatively tiny bathroom for such a large suite. At first I thought it was the guest bathroom and I was hunting around for the master bath. But no, you get the same bathroom as a normal room it seems, with a shower-bath. However with large sized Agraria bottles.
How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent. Eastern Europe has some of the best lounges! Great food each night and very extensive Hungarian drink selection. We had dinner there each night and the service was top notch too. However the only negative of my stay was that on the award nights I had to pay €70 for the club. As I had a family of four it was worth the price, but it's weird that I only got Club included on my paid night.
What was your welcome gift?
Wine, fruit and both still and sparkling water placed throughout the suite.
How was the mini-bar?
Pretty sparse. No spirits, just a few soft drinks, a Red Bull, 2 beers and a red and white wine.
What was good and what was bad?
Full breakfast appears to be included for RA's even on award stays! Maybe AMB too, I'm not sure. But when I checked in with the hostess on my award days she welcomed me in and said "Thank You for your loyalty".
I was given a single free drink coupon and when I used it at the bar, the bartender said "Thank you for your loyalty". I have to say the staff training here is excellent. Throughout the hotel I experienced a nearly Four Seasons level of service.
Bad
Having to pay for club on award nights is bad IMHO. However at least they let me keep the suite on the award nights and the mini-bar continued to be free.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
It was €128 for the paid night and 35K points per night for the award, so yes it was an excellent value.
Would you return?
Yes.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked deluxe and was upgraded to State Suite
How are the rooms?
Big but rather unusual layout - seems like a few different rooms cobbled together, with a corridor. Large lounge/dining area with table for 6. Kitchen. Two bathrooms, one with sauna. Big bedroom with sofa. Slightly nicer decor than the Junior Suites (usual RA upgrade). Two minibar fridges but only one stocked.
How is the Club Lounge?
Nice, top floor location. Good service at cocktails. Breakfast reasonable, either self serve or order from the menu.
What was your welcome gift?
An "organiser" for notebooks, pens, etc
How was the mini-bar?
Spirits, beer, soft drinks

InterContinental New York - Times Square
What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Platinum Royal Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate + points and was upgraded to Sky View Room.
As Studio Suite was fully booked, I received breakfast for free during all my stay, which was just perfect for me (As Studio suite has nothing extraordinary)
How are the rooms?
Around 32 sqm
Comfortable
The design is made by the same furniture company for IC San Francisco (read: with no real style/nothing luxurious : just a solid business hotel)
iPhone dock
Flat television with quite poor selection of cable channels (and, which is always surprising for an InterContinental hotel, very poor selection of international channels).
Bathroom with shower only (again design with poor style). Agraria amenities.
Very quiet
Nice view over NYC
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...86083693948928
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...78998092599296
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...01501406019585
How is the exec. lounge?
N/A
What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Convenient location (even if I am definitely not a big fan of Times Square), with easy connection to Subway (station at the corner the building) and 2 minutes walk to Citibike station
- Nice view from upper floor rooms
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...61767956340736
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...44641115615233
- Friendly staff at Ambassador desk
- New York Times delivered every day
- Breakfast is pretty good, but again nothing extraordinary (industrial pastries, nothing special or home made), served (in a very noisy room) by efficient staff
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...08080830455808
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...08292680540161
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...09844480720896
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...09940144480257
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...12719160213504
Bad
- The hotel is not a bad hotel, but definitely lacks of charm/luxury feeling in design and little touch (definitely more a solid business hotel rather than elegant/sophisticated hotel): the interior design is pretty poor, chocolate given at turn down service is very basic, fruits offered is just 3 apples in a basic plate with peanuts, etc.
https://twitter.com/nicolas75flyert/...07954409959424
- The addition of a club lounge would be a real plus to have check-in/out, service and quiet place and then a more luxurious/selective touch
Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Well, the hotel is not exactly cheap, and there are so many excellent options in NYC (I love the Americano hotel, which is the exact definition for me of the ideal hotel) that IC Times Square is not my first choice.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked junior suite received Bi-Level Suite
How are the rooms?
located on third and fourth floor. Thus its quite dark and doesn't have a view at all. Although I was told that this room was renovated last week it feels tired and depressing. Half bad in the lower floor and a bath wth jst a tub in the upper floor a few stairs up from the bed. in the lower floor it had a dining table seating 6 plus a living room, so quite spacious
How is the Club Lounge?
It was ok. Annoying were some people grabbing plates of food and carrying it away. Massive guys in shorts, flip flops which were not nice to look at. Food selection was mediocre, not comparable to any European lounge. But as it was free, I didn't complain
What was your welcome gift?
some cookies
How was the mini-bar?
didn't bother with the mini bar
Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes, apple, grapes and a pear
What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
- location
- good room service
- guest service manager
BAD
- when I checked in at 3.30 pm my room wasn't ready and the check-in lady wanted to tell me that I should take a club room. I told her that I've booked a junior suite. then she wanted to give me a junior suite. So 'I've asked about the RA upgrade. After half an hour at the club they gave me the dark suite. This wasn't a CI experience I would expect
Value for $ or Club Points?
price was ok.
Would you return?
not sure. The hotel didn't provide a personal neither a luxury feeling

Since its much smaller you do get a more personal feel.
Lately I'm starting to prefer IC Yorkville over Toronto Centre. Even though they don't have a Lounge its not as bad not having it. For breakfast there is place next door called "Over Easy" good price and selection.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
hmmm, so so
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a club room, initially received a suite on 10th or 11th floor which was overlooking construction and too noisy for us. Moved to a top floor suite which was huge. Still above construction but not as directly in our face.
How are the rooms?
Well it was HUGE. Separate dining, lounge, bedroom, dressing room, bathroom with big spa bath and separate shower. Powder room
How is the exec. lounge?
I just cant rate it at all. It has absolutely ZERO ambience. It is in the middle of the hotel, so no windows and a huge airspace - it is on level 21 and the open air space goes up to level 24. Lots of airconditioning noise. No music. Staff not particularly friendly or forthcoming. Cant check out here. Afternoon tea provided, but nothing special. A couple of different cakes, nothing savoury. Evening drinks are self service. Canapes rather bland and boring - fried spring rolls and sausage rolls, cheese board, some sushi from memory and hummus type spreads. Breakfast was ok but could be a bit hotter.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Macadamias and water.
How was the minibar?
Half size bottles of spirits. No sparkling wine though.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
I quite liked the location. next door to the casino and the stadium if that's your thing. Not too far to Rundle Mall. Railway station next door, tram stop just outside.
Reception staff and concierge very helpful.
-Bad
Generally lacklustre club.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
We did a BOGO. Were here for 3 nights in total. Given the suite we ended up in yes, pretty good value. But I wouldn't pay extra for club here again.
Would you return?
Maybe not to this hotel? I hear they are building a Sofitel in Adelaide so by the time we go back it might be open.
