Can't wait for the TR that this one leads up to! And not just the trip on Air France. I am looking forward to the report on the barge cruise too.
The Centurion Lounge at LAS is nice. I was guested into it a year or so ago.

Is actually thought of you yesterday SFO777 - was finishing a mini-TP run to renew BA Gold and flew AA operated by US from PHX-JFK, and when the chicken 'thing' was presented to me my immediate thought was "Now I see why he doesn't fly them anymore..."

So did anyone in front of you recline their seat on the A320's? When I was flying DL, I would get the A320 (pmNW) and was shocked that I could see the dye in the guys hair in front of me, it was the tightest FC I have been in. I started to fly the CRJ-700s between PHX-SLC...

Nothing like being stuck in domestic F for a bunch of legs...
I've always hated AF and have avoided them as much as possible for many years now. With that said though, I first saw photos of their new F product here a few months back and I must say it looks stunningly brilliant. I hope the soft product is good enough to match what they have done with the hard product because it truly looks like one of the most soothing and pleasant F cabins I've seen. I will need to try it out one day and thoroughly look forward to your report on it in the future!

Good question. Those discounted F tickets are still going to run $10K for the two of us and that's just in the off-season. For June or September, IAH-CDG is $20K+ for two. Even at 162,500 miles one way, it's still a lot cheaper when you have a boatload of miles. And availability is just about everyday which you can't find many other places. But at those prices I'm only planning to do AF one way home from CDG with LH First on the outbounds.
One can connect to somewhere from CDG (unless one wants to actually see Paris instead of go through on AF F)
A trip to actually go somewhere besides the plane.
What a novel idea!
Do you book LH F with UA miles or LH miles?
Do they hit you with as much in cancel fees?
I wish I could go along to CDG for the new AF F.
I think 162k is fine for a real F class
Recently had to shell out 175k each way for a family member to go to SYD in UA bz class at the last minute.
I do not think the value or the experience is comparable.
We have been spoiled by EY F and EK F from AA and AS miles

It's been years/decades since my last AF experience but that new F cabin is just so amazing that I figured I'd have to try it.
LH miles since that's the only way to book LH First in advance. It's only a $60PP cancellation/redeposit fee.

I thought you have to be Flying Blue Gold to redeem AF F... not just Silver... I am not sure
Flew AF F 4 times from finding relatively cheaper tickets ... 3 of the 4 had great service and ground service was phenomenal. The F lounge which was renovated in September 2014 ... from my personal opinion .. was not as beautiful as it used to..
I tend to think that it is too much trouble to get FB gold status plus 162500 miles just to fly F one flight (if bad luck, you may get a lazy crew.. that happen to every airlines except Japan/Korea even with SQ), I rather just buy it.

The last time I flew AF was CDG-JNB A380 and F cabin was full: 9/9.. everybody paid for it! wow. That was the only time with AF F that the service was not good. The food out of CDG was phenomenal.... Made me feel like if LH gets 1/10, AF gets 10/10 score. When the food comes from other station, it's not good though.

The Flying Blue programme is actually quite generous status-benefit-wise, but the earning/burning rate is quite appalling. In the UK we often call it "Flying Poo".
