It has been a year and half since I last logged into the forum! I will flight out LHR next Wednesday 4th of June. It was only afterward I realize that it is the opening day of the new T2. I'll be on the LHR-LAX flight and have lounge access. Any other FTs will be around?

How many United Clubs are there overseas? I've been to the one in Hong Kong and it is significantly better in terms of food/beverage offerings than domestic clubs.

I get to try the new LHR UC on 7 June. I won't hold my breath.

The UC in NRT is marginal. When first opened some 13 years ago it was nice. Now its an overcrowded zoo that offers stale california rolls. Much prefer to make the trek to the other end of the terminal and use the ANA lounge.

Hopefully the arrivals lounge will be open long enough to accommodate the later flights from the West Coast. My pet peeve with many of these arrival lounges (not just UA) is that they close at 1pm which is too late for some long distance flights. I guess the theory is that you can simply checkin to your hotel at that hour, but I've found that's hit or miss, and not particularly efficient if your intent was to go straight to your office or a meeting.
I visited the old T1 arrivals lounge at LHR a couple of years ago - the food offerings were mediocre (like the departure lounge) and I found it cramped. Optimtically speaking the new one has to be an improvement, particularly if they add more fresh food beyond carb-laden sorry looking pastries.

If the offerings are as good as they were on the preview night you may need to take a second breath. We were told there will be full cooked breakfasts, and hot snacks at lunchtime with a complimentary bar. Certainly better than the food in the current * lounge and as good, if not better, than the Skyteam offerings in T4. And the showers look excellent, a pity we could not try them.

While the ANA lounges are marginally nicer (I'm not a fan of the decor choice, but the F&B is somewhat better), you're sadly mistaken if you think they aren't a zoo from 3-5 pm. I've seen people sitting on the floor in the lounge and the staff going around to harass people to make extra space for standees.

Besides the one in HKG, there are clubs in GRU, NRT, and MEL. GRU also offers hot and cold food. The decor and location can't match HKG though. From the pictures, the new club LHR looks to be really nice! Looking forward to checking it out soon.

I'll be there on opening day, unfortunately. I'd tried to avoid flying from T2 on the day it opened, but when I booked my flights I forgot all about it. And I need to check bags....

I'm scheduled to come in to T2 on Wed and then transit to T3. I'm torn between thinking it will be cool to be there on opening day and thinking it will be a disaster.

I look forward to the inevitable 4 way (UA/AC/SQ/LH) lounge comparison
Anyone know if we have access to all of them (as in, none are behind a separate security checkpoint/satellite or the like)?
