He could also imply that Southwest wants to start service to Canada. Also, I would not be surprised if Southwest also tried flights to Dublin from somewhere like MHT. AFAIK ETOPS is not necessary for that route.

Don't blame the biz reporter - listen to G Kelly on the webcast, about 18:45 in.
'50 new destinations, compared to 96 today,' so he's not talking about city pairs.
Regrettably his remarks about '15 new destinations from Love Field' were a bit sloppy as he didn't specify these as new non-stop services. Is anything thus announced for DAL actually a new destination not already served by WN/FL?

I have no idea how they are going to accomplish it.

Still, it would seem difficult to come up with 50 potential destinations, even including Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Latin America and the Carribean. Unless... they are willing to change the formula and serve destinations less than daily and/or seasonally. Also, I wonder if there is any possibility that they would use SJU as a jumping off point to somewhere like Sao Paulo or Rio.

Also can't ignore Spirit which has 25 nonstop destinations from FLL that follows this model. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Still wondering what the definition of 'destination' is... This statement doesn't sound like 15 brand new dots, but 15 new non-stop destinations out of Love:
"Dallas-based Southwest (NYSE: LUV) will add 15 new domestic destinations from Love Field in October and November but the opportunity exists for many more, he said."

Look who has the highest margins right now? Airlines operating less than daily service. AirTran started doing that before WN took over. Look at how much F9 is expanding now with that formula.

A bit of smoke and mirrors if you ask me.

The 15 Dallas destinations comment is city pairs, lines on a map, all to cities already served in the WN network, and has no bearing on the 50 destination comment.

WN clarified the 50 new destinations comment as dots on a map, not lines on a map. I don't understand how you are still confused about this.
