There're no E+ seating on AC planes. If you have a tight connection perhaps you can request seating further up front. Where are you flying from to YYZ?

UA gold will be *G and you'll be able to use the YYZ maple leaf lounge if you're connecting. You'll get priority boarding with the Super elite, Elite 75/50/25k and *G.

You may be offered a LMU (last minute upgrade) when you do OLCI on AC.com (if you have an AC booking reference code). You can also ask to pay for upgrade at the gate. If you're flying on Y fare maybe you can use your UA miles to do an upgrade but it'll have to be requested with the UA MP program.

If you book your flight via UA.com they may offer a Y-up to buy up to J.

With Star Alliance, booking a codeshare is almost always a bad idea. The only possible benefit is that it may be cheaper - everything else about it is worse.

You will earn PQD if you book the ticket on a UA code on 016 ticket stock vs., for example, booking it at the AC website.

If you don't care about PQD, then no, there's no reason to buy the ticket on a UA code.

There's no reason to use the UA codeshare. You can book the native AC flight number on 016 stock and still get PQD.

If you buy a full fare Tango ticket, you will get free access to preferred seating (extra legroom seats) as a *G.

Otherwise your only benefits are limited to the general *G benefits:
priority baggage/3 bags
priority boarding
priority checkin (really useful in YYZ)
Maple Leaf Lounge access

But none of those are a benefit of booking the United codeshare.

the only benefit of booking a UA flight number codeshare is the PQD.

You could have UA book the AC flight on the 016 ticket noncodeshare, but they might not have access to the cheapest fare bucket.

The codeshare does not guarantee PQDs. Only 016 stock does.

"Full fare" and "Tango" are two very different things.

If it's a Flex fare, *G gets free bulkhead and priority (first several rows) seating.
On Latitude fares, all seats are free.

Thanks for the info. Flying LAX-YYZ. I'm considering just doing a stop in Chicago (one of my personal no-nos) just so I can get a decent chance at an upgrade or at a minimum seating in E+.

I forgot about being able to go to the lounge since Canada is technically international. I'll have to check out the AC lounge for sure!

As long as you buy a Flex fare, you get AC's equivalent of E+. I'm not even sure if Tango is available on that route, but I am sure you won't earn 100% mileage if you book Tango.

Also, as *G, you always have access to the MLL, regardless of where you're going

If flying UA codeshare (016 stock) on AC metal, are you eligible for SDC to a UA metal flight?

Thanks,

UATulip

Technically, no. SDC applicable only to UA operated flights.

But you might be able to do it anyway. Don't count on it though.

Last week, Global Services did a SDC for me to an earlier nonstop on YYZ-SFO. I booked 016 on AC metal.
