First annual Four Seasons Hualalai FlyerTalk Do!-December 8-13th, 2013
Team Flyertalk,
My spouse and two twins are moving to the Big Island this year after visiting and enjoying it for many years. Of all the islands, and all the wonderful hotels on the different islands, our very best memories come from the truly exceptional Four Seasons Hualalai.
This year they were nominated the #1 spot on Tripadvisor, in the world, but far more importantly they are consistently ranked by our members as having amongst the highest and most consistent excellence in service and overall brilliant tropical resort experience of any of the Hawaiian islands, again, if not the world. See the many incredible trip reports from NYBanker, myself, and others.
They have also just completed another round of renovations, improving their already best in class restaurants and pool amenities. www.fourseasons.com/hualalai
So...without further ado, if you like Four Seasons resorts, Hawaii, swimming with dolphins and whales, fresh local cuisine, outdoor lava rock showers, a world class gym, spa, warm talented concierge team, water sports, and a choice of 4 different themed ocean front pools and hot tubs, join us Dec. 8th-13th, for the first ever Four Seasons Haulalai Flyertalk Do!
More details forthcoming....
The room rate is $395 per night, which does not include breakfast, but does include internet. This is for the best available of an ocean view room, which includes the categories of golf ocean view, partial ocean view, and premium ocean view. Have spent a good amount of time at the property, all of the rooms are wonderful.
Per the T&C of Flyertalk I am happy to report that I will likely get a suite upgrade, some meals, and potentially spa treatments for helping organize the trip. I'll also put my own money down to secure this rate for our group. This is in addition to the joy I will receive welcoming Flyertalkers to the Big Island.
Feel free to post questions and to send me a pm. This is the first time I've hosted a FlyerTalk Do so bear with me. If I'm flooded with responses/questions I promise I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I'm most interested in seeing responses from those who will definitely or are seriously considering joining us at this amazingly beautiful place on the ocean.
Mahalo!

Aloha Goodmorning2u
Thanks for setting up this Luxury DO and securing a great rate for this iconic property. It may be nearly a year away but I'm already excited.
I hope we get a few more flyertalkers to join us in paradise.

Aloha Kokinos! I'm looking forward to welcoming you to the Big Island! This is truly a magical place. And, I've started to hear back from other Flyertalkers so I think we will have a good group going headed to paradise!

Yes, we are getting together Dec. 8-13th 2013. I'll post more info this coming week. Even though it is months away, I'm already looking forward to vacationing at the FS Hualalai!

My December schedule is far from firm, but I will at least express
a very definite interest in this Do. I visit the Big Island frequently,
both for work and for vacation, but I have never stayed at the FS.
This would be a great opportunity to make up for that "deficiency".

I would love to join in too as I've been wanting to stay here for a while. Just a question on timing though----do we have to stay all 5 days? Scheduling doesn't always allow me to leave the real world for that long.

I am interest in the Do but work schedule still up in the air, i might not able to the whole 5 days. Would the hotel able to extend the special rate through the weekend?

At the moment there is availability to extend our rate one day before the 8th and up to five nights after our guaranteed last day, the 13th. Yes, you can stay less than five nights. Book soon to secure this availability if it is important to your schedule.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there!

I was just emailed a list of recommended and approved activities by the Four Seasons Hualalai concierge. If you'd like a copy let me know!
And, I look forward to meeting all of you!

I am sorry to tell you that Alan Wong left the FS Hualalai a few years ago. But Pa'u'ia, the old "main dining room" by the ocean has a completely revamped menu and is supposed to be great. The Beach Tree was renovated after the tsunami hit us a couple of years back and was transformed into a beautiful restaurant too.
I have lived in Kona for more than 26 years and visited Kona for 5 years before moving here. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the hotel (I've stayed many times) and Kona in general. I look forward to meeting flyertalkers at the do!
I'd love to chat with the person organizing this. Maybe I can help as well.
Aloha!!!!

Sounds like a great time in store for those who can attend. I planned a large conference at the Hualalai in July 2012 and still keep in contact with one of the group events reps at the Hualalai, who I knew when I planned another conference at the Four Seasons Lana'i, and she was the group events rep at that property. Unfortunately, I moved back to Los Angeles from Honolulu a year ago, and getting back to the islands doesn't look likely until 2014, but if plans change, I'll surely take you up on the invite.

Is this bookable yet? If so, do we need a special rate code? Thanks.
