Employee companion pass info or forum?

I've been flying on employee companion passes on United for years, but my father is getting older and no longer has an interest in checking on updates to the system. Anyone know of a forum that has info on companion passes and any changes to unacompanied companion travel as a result of the merger?

Thanks for any help.

You most likely won't find anything public on it. Try PMing UAInsider or someone else on the board who is a employee and PM them.

You could also try the UA forum at airlineforums.com. While not solely for employees, the forums there are populated mostly by employees.

Pretty much has stayed the same for "buddy pass-ers" -- More tiers were added to the entire list but it all evens out, and priority was always pretty much last when flying unaccompanied anyways. PM me for more specific information.

Buddy Pass Question

I would like to use my buddy pass. I am a newbie, located at Honolulu. Pls advise if I have to pay for the buddy pass to Vegas or anywhere I decided to go.

United Buddy Pass (companion) Policy Change??

Hi,
I've been flying on UA Employee companion tickets for over decades.
Now my UA friend tells me there was a change in the policy and she can no longer give me buddy passes...
Does this mean there is no companion tickets distributed to UA employees at all?
Any information will be appreciated.

Regards,

She did not go into details but she is in oversea right now so I am wondering if someone can fill me in with this policy change.

Companion passes are given out or not given out at the discretion of the employee. I don't feel comfortable talking about our program so you can go question another employee on why they're not giving you a pass or not. If your friend says they have none, then that's really the only answer needed isn't it?

It probably depends on what employee group your friend is with. We still have them, but I don't give them to anyone except an ex-employee because she understands all the downsides to them.

The cost of a buddy pass is often close to that of a positive-space ticket, and it's space-available.

When my wife and I travel on a schedule, we buy tickets like everyone else. Even with 26 years won't get us on a lot of the flights we travel on.

Your questions for your "friend" can't wait until next week? If so, it seems odd that she wouldn't have acccss to email for a week.

I am also not comfortable sharing this information on a public forum however it's your friend's responsibility to give you the information needed. If she told you that there are no passes then you don't need to question her motives.

There were some changes when the merger happened. My understanding for at least one group is active employees still have individual passes they can hand out. Retired employees no longer get this benefit but they can no designate two people as their permanent buddies (or whatever you call it) able to use the benefit as often as they want.

Another change is that economy travel is now free, while c and f seem to have become a bit more expensive.
