Hyatt "Hacienda Del Mar" is on the way out
This is our 3rd year of using our week 51 at "Hacienda Del Mar" in Puerto Rico after the hotel closed. The place is on the way out if not finished. I have posted here in the past about my concerns, it now seems to late. The place is a complete ghost town and several people who we know from the past who own week 51 decided not to come this year because it just isn't the same. Just three years ago this place was so great with staff, facilities, casino & great restaurants. Now a great restaurant has been replaced with a "Johny Rockets" and the once great "River Poll" is on the way out, the place is also getting very tired & dirty with not staff members in sight. We started the trip with two nights in Dorado and we can't belive they still affiliate themselves with Cerromar/Hacienda Del Mar. Many people here are saying the same thing. It's to bad Hyatt has allowed this to happen to such a great place.

Any Recent Stays Here???
I'm doing a quick 2 night stay in PR over Labor Day and was able to get a cheap AAA rate of $126 at the Dorado. As I'm travellng solo (#1), don't mind switching hotels -- if they are near each other (#2), and can get another stay credit at Hyatt
(#3), I was contemplating the Hacienda del Mar for one night at $125 and doing just one night at Dorado. Is this place really that bad??, I'm not looking for anything spectacular, but then again 'a ghost town' does not sound appealing. Should I just keep my Dorado res for the 2 nights??

Sorry....stays at the Hacienda don't earn Goldpassport points or Stay credits as it is the Hyatt Timeshare Property.
Stick with Dorado Beach and ask for a lower Beachfront room.
You are then just steps from the ocean.

Anyone stayed here using points or otherwise? More recent reviews on TA are better. I was told only studios are available using GP points (12K). I gather from the reviews this isn't a posh resort. But so long as the rooms are okay and the beach & grounds are nice (which everyone seems to agree is the case), that is fine with me.

Any updates on stays here? Also, are there any diamond upgrades or benefits avail?

Since the property is still open, please continue discussions at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...er-thread.html .
I'll lock this thread for housekeeping purposes after moving recent reports to the other thread.
