Book away from UA.
I shall be leaving Starbucks because they changed the color of the cups.
UA abandoning Starbucks is another - thanks for your input.

Hi demkr, yes, any reservations that include your Mileage Plus number will automatically be credited to your permanent account number once were operating on a single platform.

(Maybe notifying us to change the mapping when they see credit to those accounts?)
Hi bmvaughn, until our systems are integrated, everything will continue to work as is does today. After that, we'll handle the mapping of account numbers for quite some time. For example, if a car company sends us your Mileage Plus number for a rental youve made, well have this mapped to your new number for earning purposes. That said, youll be safe to change your number with any partners as well (but, only after our transition to a single system takes place).

UA Insider, I appreciate the updates and I realize that these system integrations will take time. But I think we're all eager to ensure these issues are on your radar.
Appreciate you sharing this GoAmtrak,. Since were not yet on a single system, between now and late first quarter of next year you can continue to use your Mileage Plus account number in cases like this. Were diligently working with all of our partners to ensure any required changes are made to their systems as well. Well make sure this one is on our radar.

The issue is not about memorizing numbers, or even length of numbers. The issue is that it is yet one more example of using the UA name/product - but the underlying system becomes CO - (e.g. the Continentialization). If the CO numbers or process were better that would be one thing. But they are not - so MP was the adopted program - MP numbers should be adopted. I would also ask is this really a new system or is it just the OP system. In which case from talking to CO folks that is NOT good news. CO can not upgrade with miles the day of departure - MP can. I'm sure there are other examples - but it appears most of the changes have gone this way (LIVERY, Blankets, Pillows, Coffee, etc. etc)....each individual item is less important than the overall and collective issue.

There is a bigger issue here.

NOT a good idea

United Mileage Plus numbers should survive this, versus OnePass alphanumeric numbers...now I have to used the full keyboard instead of just a keypad...

In addition, what the heck are we CC holders and those with airline dining programs do since they are linked to the UMP numbers?

Had a UA account for decades and never could remember the number. Got my status match to CO when this was introduced (setting up a new CO account as I could not locate my original one from the early 90s) and had it memorized in days!

Just curious if we will be getting our definitive new MP 2012 cards with this number in January, or will these be delayed until the systems merge in the spring?

sbm12, you must be math illiterate

Likely so, but I do see some value in discrediting many of the false claims about the alternatives.
sbm12, YOU ARE MATH ILLITERATE
10^11 = 100 Billion...it will be a LONG time before it is exhausted...

I have to switch designations for EVERY hotel program I have, plus my CC and dining AND others in my family.

sometimes it is how the brain is wired.

dude, I had a heck of time (months) and failed to remember my WN/AA number(s) to the point that I don't use WN/AA anymore.

took my less than a week to remember my numerical account numbers (UA and others) by remembering in clusters.

read the whole thread after my initial post...UMP numbers are going to be grandfathered for years.

still the problem is how rewardsnetwork deals with this since they use your FF as logins. in addition, CCs needed be re-issued.

Nothing changed in my HH account -- UA number is still in there and I can add another UA-format number as well, but it also seems to accept a CO-format number (as a UA number).

And, oddly enough, I can't add anything as a CO number (in either format).

Umm...UACO does not have nor ever had any orders for the A380......do you have a legitimate point to make or are you just trying to insult people and/or start a fight?
