Why do I feel I'll be grabbing my ankles again? I can't take too many more enhancements.....

I wonder if most of these EC seats are being sold at the gate, at OLCI, or at time of booking?

Good luck generating $1 Billion in excremental revenue with that website and, more importantly, Deltamatic running in the background!

I guess this qualifies as dirty money.

I must say, from an investor's perspective the presentation tells a pretty compelling story. And there are certainly some positives (on paper) that bode well for its customers...
  • Complete flat-bed seat installations on widebody fleet (2013)
  • State of the art international facilities in Atlanta (2012) and JFK (2013)
  • Revamped eCommerce platforms enable revenue innovation (2012)
  • Enhance SkyMiles to reward the best customers (2012)

I think we can rely on the first two, but the last two make me want to run and hide. DL has consistently failed to deliver on promises in these two areas, or has delivered "enhancements" that are anything but. And the dehubbing of MEM continues apace (25% capacity reduction year over year).

Overall, it makes me want to buy DL stock but fly AA.

I'd suggest you avoid the stock as well--unless you like long term investments that lose money.

I understand that peering into the future is making a best guess and there are no guarantees. That said, does anyone think a breakdown of that $1B will be published anywhere? It would be very interesting to see how much DL is projecting the T-72 policy is going to net them. And how the future enhancements figure into their plans... And ours!

Is T-72 Delta's idea of an enhancement? If so, I think I heard a chime. "Ladies and gentleman. We are heading into an area of turbulence. Please return to your seats and fasten your safety belts".

No... T-72 is not about getting more money into DL's treasury.

It's all about making more award seats available to us.

Yea, sure...

See this is why I have no hope for the PR guys and gals at Delta. It is very clear that the word "Enhancements" is associated with downgrades. That has been the case since they started using it. Why would they invoke that word when they know it really means "grab your ankles" to their customers?...who is writing this copy and do they ever get out of their "office" virtually or otherwise???

The T-72 policy has nothing to with the "revenue innovation."

If anyone bothered to either a) listen to Ed's presentation or b) move beyond the preconceived rhetorical bull crap that seems to permeates this forum they might understand the "revenue innovation" is a concise way of saying we're going to get more ancillary revenue by finding new products to sell through Delta.com that our customers want to buy.

New products that either were complimentary or were benefits of elite status that they are now going to charge for. There is rich justification for skepticism towards DL management on this board as delta's marketing campaign pontificates on loyalty as a two way street and then screws its customers with T-72 implemented at the dead of night with little notice.

I don't have high hopes for these "enhancements." A friend attended a focus in group in June where they floated a mileage earning and redemption program based on dollars spent/price of the ticket. It worked ok for any low priced ticket redemption, but expensive intl biz class tickets that cost 4-5000 would be outrageously high. Based on what he told me about the crowd's reaction, basically outrage over Delta promising loyalty and rewards for your business over the years, only to screw you, I never thought that they would go through with it. Maybe they will. Elite status still earned same way though.

Better yet, the messaging was something like, "hey we printed way too many skymiles over the years and we have noticed how hard it is to get a ticket, so we are redoing the system to make it better and easier for you."
