What knocks the St. Regis down, in my opinion, are the tiny bathrooms.

Thanks again. Assuming I can confirm a room with separate shower and tub, with a bit more overall size, would you put the St. Regis in the same basic category as the FS/RC?

The room I saw didn't even have a tub... Lead-in rooms are smallish (350 sq. ft.), and the bathrooms are really tiny - as in, there's basically enough space to stand in front of the sink.

On the plus side, the lobby is beautiful, room furnishings are very nice, and there's a great restaurant on property.

The Preferred Partner amenities are basically boilerplate - the point is that they have created a standardized set of amenities across all their properties - but despite the wording, high level upgrades can happen at some hotels and resorts.

sorry, off website.

you click on the rate, and the pop up window (sep 2009 change) comes up, but the "rate" option is gone. only "includes" and "conditions" are there. decreasing transparency.

Provence

Does anyone know of any special promos for FS Provence for August - the fifth night free would be great, but seems to have ended March 31.

The City Breaks Promotion (100 credit) seems to be offered for August dates on the Preferred Partner webpage, even though the promotion ends March 31, plus Preferred Partner amenities:

  • Daily full American breakfast for two through In-Room Dining or in the hotel restaurant (including buffets)
  • Spa credit of USD100 once during stay (not applicable to products)
  • Upgrade of one category, based on availability at time of check-in (excluding signature suites and villas)
  • Complimentary high-speed Internet access for all suite bookings

Travelzoo has the Ritz-Carlton Chicago (a Four Seasons property) listed on their Top 20 deals this week. The deal is essentially 25% off rates for 2-night stays -- Moderate Rooms from $221.

The property still has their Third Night Free offer which provides a lower average rate per night for higher category rooms, but this (new?) promo certainly seems useful for 2-night getaways.

The promo may also be combined with FSPP amenities:
  • Daily full American breakfast for two through In-Room Dining or in the hotel restaurant (including buffets)
  • Lunch for two once during stay (up to USD85, excluding gratuity and alcohol)
  • Upgrade of one category, based on availability at time of check-in (excluding signature suites and villas)
  • Welcome note at check-in acknowledging you and your travel agency and the amenities that are being extended
  • Complimentary high-speed Internet access for all suite bookings
