Avis joins Starwood's program
A mailing in my first Starwood statment had this offer from AVIS:
Preferred guest members get 50 points PER DAY (YES, PER DAY, I READ IT THREE TIMES TO MAKE SURE) PLUS LOW daily retnal rates and unlimited mileage.
You need to mention two numbers (Sorry
coupon #TUHB053
STARWOOD/AVIS DISCOUNT (AWD) #K817200.
If I'm reading this coupon right... it's good in U-S, Canada and worldwide.

the 50 points are (if you finally exchange them into miles of your preferred airline) a little bit better than the direct 50 miles you get from your airline, because if you transfer 20'000 Starwood-points you get the 5'000 bonus to make it 25'000 airline-miles.
But for me and AVIS it will be LH's miles&more program for short rental-periods, still giving 500 miles per rental / no flight needed, worldwide.

For my money, you are better using BA and getting 500 miles (50 UK) per rental, plus 4500 miles (450 UK) on your second rental plus 4500 miles (450 UK) for joining Avis Preferred and 1500 miles (150 UK) for joining Avis Wizard.
That's 11,500 miles for two rentals. What a shame it is only available in Europe.
