I fetched all the prices on 11 Jan and the prices are identical to yours for Australia.

Thanks, I priced an ex-JNB DONE4 last night, and including taxes and so forth, it still came out more than NZD$1000 lower than this price. So SA is still viable if one can get there.

Although, I find that starting in SA usually requires adding an extra continent (since I otherwise wouldn't be going to Africa) which raises the comparison price (but also can earn more miles/points).

I know what you mean, but 16 segments aren't really enough to spread around 5 continents for me, especially if you want to max out the 'A' classes flights. My main interests are in the US and Europe anyway, so I just skip Asia altogether.

Wow Australia is a joke. Not only is the currency sky high, they keep raising prices.

Yes Australia's dollar is one of the strongest currencies in the world. Ex-OZ xONEx prices have not gone up as noted in post #26.

FWIW, resurrection of this thread seems to be a false start as it does not appear that any prices have gone up (yet).

I too haven't seen any evidence of any changes in those that I have been contemplating in the last few weeks.

It is ominous that they have taken away the fare estimate section from the OW website. I notice yesterday there was still a link from the booking tool but the page it linked to resulted in a 404 error. That link has now been removed from the tool.

For those that are interested I notice that CAI, TLV, AMM & DOH all seem to be a good starting points for AONE fares. - At the moment...

I could become a OW defector to *A after I burn through my current inventory of AA miles. Approximately USD$7,200 AI for RTW using FEZSQ is looking pretty good right now. Sure, a very restrictive fare, but it works for my travel.

Yeah, I saw that fare too. I have to give it a closer look and see what the SQ Euro-US options are on SQ. SQ A380 suites are not permitted on the F fare TTBOMK.

Depending on where you are traveling FC CirPacs on either OW or *A are about the same price ex-HKG.

Nice that FEZSQ is ex-US; but even though I am from the US I am currently positioned for and doing repetitive ex-HKG CirPacs right now. Thinking about having that come to an end at the end of this year.

I guess I need to go over to the *A forum and check it out.

Exclamation Yes, prices are somewhat expensive ex Oz

Qantas have the following illustrative nett fares (inclusive of ) published on their website: (http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airl...er/au/en#jump3)

Economy $4,365 $4,967 $5,916
Busines $12,303 $13,565 $15,480
First $18,003 $19,464 $21,580
The actual base fares currently (from E/F) are:
Code:
Ex Australia (AUD)

Continents 4 5 6

Economy $3,899 $4,499 $5,199
Business $11,699 $12,999 $14,599
First $17,399 $18,899 $20,699
For Comparison, from TLOTLWC:

Continents 4 5 6

Economy $3,899 $4,499 $5,199
Business $12,499 $13,999 $15,399
First $17,099 $19,699 $21,799
Converting NZD to ~AUD gives:
Code:
Ex New Zealand (~AUD)

Continents 4 5 6

Economy $2,970 $3,430 $3,970
Business $9,550 $10,670 $11,740
First $13,100 $15,100 $16,700
Approx. base Savings by starting and finishing in NZ:
Code:
Approx AUD saving:

Continents 4 5 6

Economy $930 $1,070 $1,230
Business $2,150 $2,330 $2,860
First $4,300 $3,800 $4,000

And even higher savings if one starts in New Caledonia.
