Employee discounted tickets

I was hoping someone in the know can shed light on this:

Someone I know is flying Etihad in First on a deeply discounted ticket because his girlfriend works for Etihad. Even for the 90% discounted standby tickets, I thought they only applied to the employee, and were not extendable to what would in this case be considered friends, and not even family.

Or is it that a certain limited number can be purchased by every employee and given to whoever they want?

Etihad employees can nominate a number of people as their guests to avail of ID90 tickets. The number of tickets they are allowed each year is dependent on the employee seniority. I think crew are given 10 tickets (return) per year, that can be one person taking 10 flights or 10 people taking 1

Ok, so no limit on how many people, but just on the number of flights a year to prevent people from selling the benefit I presume.

And are the ID90 tickets confirmed tickets or standby tickets? I was under the impression the deeply discounted ones are standby whereas confirmed reservations require a regular commercial (full price) ticket.

Don't know about EY, but for EK its 90% discount and you go standby or 50% and you are guaranteed a seat (well almost anyway). Apparently if you are a low grade staff booked on the 50% there is a chance they could bump you for revenue.

And AFAIK this extends to all first blood family members and their respective spouses/children but no to friends.
