hideaways near Zurich
We will be going to Zurich around the Christmas holidays and would like to find a nice quiet place in the countryside to spend a few days. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
Thanks.

We loved the spa wing too... we were actually offered an upgrade to Classic Suite in the old wing but much preferred the new wing.
Would return to the Dolder Grand in a heartbeat !

Just be careful what you book as some of the superior rooms have a forrest view towards up the hill while deluxe rooms ares south facing with views over zurich and balconies.
Junior suite deluxe all have balconies as well in both wings!!

Thanks for all the suggestions re Zurich hideaways. I have also heard of the Bellevue Palace in Bern, although hardly qualifies as a "hideaway".

Maybe the Panorama Resort &Spa at Feusisberg qualifies as hideaway near Zurich:

It does have a great view of Lake Zurich.

Two places that come to my mind... (in addition to The Lodge, which is fabulous) - never been there, but they are on the to-do list. Note that none of these is really close to Zurich, you'd probably have to drive at least 1.5 hrs. to get the hideaway feeling.
Crans Ambassador in Crans-Montana, which will open in December and looks spectacular
Guarda Val in Lenzerheide
Hotel Paradies in Ftan, Engadin
Another option I would consider is driving to Lech (Austia), a beautiful little ski villiage. It's only 2 hrs from Zurich and has several excellent hideaway hotels.
