He people are even considering that he should buy the plane.

Why didnt he buy a ticket for the next flight as well. Then his wife would also get 1A & he would keep his marriage.

But cnat he give his wife the 1A now. Then turn up on the plane & start saying dont you know who I am. Thats the common way of doing things I thought.

Thanks for the clarification ^. I wasn't sure on that point and it's nice to learn something new amidst all the banter.

If the cabin is empty, my genuine advice to the OP would be to book 1K and 2K now (or 1A and 2A depending on the direction of travel and handedness of the pax). That's not actually such a bad pair for a couple and they're both great seats. Then at T-3d there's a very good chance the other row 1 seat will actually be available (and keep checking afterwards if it isn't). The fact that the someone is occupying 1K will make 1A less desirable.

On my last F flight about three weeks ago, row 1 came and went several times. I could easily have grabbed either seat around T-2d and at OLCI, and even right up to the point I left for the airport. In the end they were taken by a couple who appeared to choose them at airport check-in and at least one of whom was a Gold (they were checking in right next to me).

Oh Spottie - Trust you to bring a breath of fresh air to this 1A/1K discourse. I will go further. How often has it been said that events in First on this Forum are disproportionate to the size of the cabin. Outside this place I bet the bulk of the travelling public have never had to ponder such concerns in their lives.

Anyway - welcome back it has been far too long and certain posters with half your charm and not a whisker of your machismo are quite out of control!

Let me tell all and sundry - my favourite cabin is Club World. You get wonderful people in there. Purely my opinion.

Partly due to fortuitous (for us) misinformation. Based on the fact that journalists usually quote the most expensive price they can find, most people believe you can't travel in First without splashing out around 8,000 on a ticket. Those of us on here know better. I'm not saying F is a realistic option for the backpacker on a shoestring, so to speak, but it's within reach of many who think it isn't.

I hate travelling longhaul Y so much that I had enough motivation to enable me to discover for myself how to get into the C cabin (initially on United - this was years back) without too much of a financial outlay . But I think reading FlyerTalk has made me travel in F much more than I otherwise would.

Oh there I would agree - I have never been on a Mileage Run and thought that a Mattress Run was something that you got up to with a twenty something year old trick on a lay over.

I am indebted to this place for learning how to cadge seats, upgrade, and save loads of lolly.

+1 ^ I never thought that I'd be in the pointy end of the plane unless moved forwards operationally and yet here I am nearly a month away from my first* F flight. Maybe one day I'll get the ultimate BA reward and Have PUCCI as the CSD on board one of my flights.

*Hopefully of many

Someone could have woken me up. I didn't realise we were doing "what are the best seats in F" again, 'cos I thought we did that yesterday. And the day before.

I know....but it's always a good excuse to let everyone know that you've travelled in F.
I never miss the opportunity.

You've forgotten to remind us of the associated fact that you never spend more than 1.50 (that's Scottish pounds, btw) on a ticket anywhere, ever.

PUCCI I am shocked. Surely you don't think what we are is based on a nominal (0-100) scale This would mean I am only a third of a person.

2K is the best First seat for me -the aisle is a bit quieter and it isn't totally isolated. Horses for courses.

There comes a point, IMHO, when you have to realise that you are flying British Airways First, and that really 1a/2a/3a/4a doesn't make a huge difference.
