Stafford London Now a Kempinski Hotel

This re-flagging follows on the purchase of the hotel by a Egyptian family last year:

I expect Mr Harper will continue to rave about it, though. I never did get this hotel - truly awful food.

+1: I also never really "got" this hotel- and to be consistently the best by Sr. Harper- well I wondered?

Likewise ... the rooms in the main building are small and dated, and the place feels like a fire trap. (I did like the Mews).

Yes, I liked the Mews, too, although I preferred the old style Mews to the new accommodation across the way, which was a bit too full of furniture. The main 'house' though was awful, apart from the extended American Bar.

I cannot imagine Kempinski running this place - it is a very weird choice. Hopefully they will encourage the new owners to spend a few zillions making it habitable.

It looks to me as though the El-Sharkawy family are the same people who own The Ritz-Carlton Sharm El Sheikh, which is a frightful resort. They used to have the family's travel agent desk in the lobby.......

My boss loves it, but I'm with the "don't get it" crowd.
