Sorry to reopen and older thread, but I have a question that is related but not exactly the same. I am arriving at GVA flying on UA in NC and have never been to this airport. I see there is no A* lounge, but there is a LH senator/business lounge. Is this before or after customs / baggage claim? I tend to use lounges as mini arrival lounges (I see there are no showers, but at least there is a place to relax and brush my teeth before catching the train to Lyon). This certainly is easier if the lounge is outside security (which some of these posts seem to imply, but not sure), but I have done this even in MUC, just have to make it short so my bags are not sitting unattended. Thanks for the help.

IAD & GVA Airport/Lounge Advice
After perusing several threads, I thought the simplest way to get updated info would be to ask here. Hopefully, I chose correctly but, if not, I'm sure this will get merged appropriately.
I have no status on UA (yet) and decided to take advantage of the Z fare sale to Europe and try out the new lie-flats. At the end of this month I'm flying BOI-DEN-IAD-ZRH and back to the states GVA-IAD-ORD-BOI all on UA metal. All of my layovers are about 2 hours so I'll try to take advantage of the RCCs when I can. Time permitting, I'd also really like shower access at an IAD international lounge before heading to my 5:53pm flight to ZRH. My research seems to indicate that my best bets for lounge access would be the LH business lounge, but I think it may be in a different concourse from my UA departure. Does anyone have some insight on this? Are there other/better lounge alternatives? I also understand neither the LH nor LX business lounges at GVA have showers (and are outside security). I take it I also won't have any shower availability on arrival back in IAD since my only option will be the domestic RCCs (with my domestic first class tickets). Am I missing something? And yes, I realize I may seem overly interested in shower access, but with all the multiple segments and layovers this is a fairly long trip for me.
IAD (except for a domestic flight many years ago), ZRH, and GVA are all new to me so any helpful tips on lounges or transiting would be appreciated. Oh, and I also thought I'd see if my concerns about landing at IAD at 3pm on a Sunday, getting through customs, and making it to my 5:08pm flight to ORD are justified. I've read enough threads about IAD to make me concerned, though the last UA rep I spoke to (after I received notice my flight times had changed yet again) insisted that was sufficient. Thanks.

If you are flying on a biz ticket you should be able to use the premier lines even without the status. Ditto for lounges provided you are international biz.

Lounges and showers for Business passengers:
-ZRH - Swiss Arrivals Lounge
-GVA - outside the lounges on the mezzanine, all airport-run but lounges can get you access - NOTE: they are all inside security (the main checkpoint) but before Passport control and frisking for US flights
-IAD - LH Business Lounge - the downstairs one, yes, in Terminal B no C & D that United use, but the peoplemover or train will get you between them

GVA - you will get an invitation at check-in for the Swiss Business Lounge. Not the SEN lounge.
IAD - As you are not *G, I don't think you will have access to the LH lounge in IAD, just the RCCs. Don't forget to ask for your two drink chits and wifi card.

Thanks for the responses. Someone else asked a similiar question in a later thread and it appears I should be able to get into the LH lounge at IAD before my flight to ZRH (per *A's posted lounge access policy) provided I have enough time to take the Aerotrain to Terminal B. Otherwise, my best bet for at least a soda and wifi is the RCC at C17 or maybe C9.

Regarding the LH lounge, while I haven't been there and I say go for it if you have the time, in my opinion, I certainly would not go to IAD any earlier than necessary in order to lounge hop. It is not a desirable place to spend free time.

Just to piggy-back onto this thread, I am flying UA F from Geneva back to IAD and I was wondering about the lounge situation. I am *G but do not have my card as UA has been slow to send it. Does anyone know which lounge UA uses in Geneva and if I can get into the LX SEN lounge there with just my boarding pass?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Flying in NC IAD-GVA, do I have access to the Swiss Business lounge in GVA as an arriving C pax? (As a 1K, I'm also *G, but I don't think status matters since I don't have a boarding pass *departing* from GVA.)
Just thinking really hard about showers in Geneva
