This might be a different subject, but, anyway, I live and in April I received an e-mail from Chase regarding the 15,000 bonus miles for United milage plus if a checking account was opened before 6/30/09 with $100 initial deposit and initiating a direct deposit. I took the coupon code printout into my Wa-muchase bank in Reedley, Ca. and they opened an account for me, and than tryed to put in the code which was not accepted. There was nothing on the e-mail offer that stated this offer EXCLUDED california. the rep at the bank said I should call Chase direct and they would take care of it for me, in the interim I changed the direct deposit to the new account. After alot of research I found out California is not completed changed over to chase yet and was upset because I went thru all this for nothing. I did send a copy of the original e-mail with the coupone code and offer etc. and a letter to the Marketing dept of chase as I wanted to know why I got a e-mail that didn't state california was excluded from this offer. They didn't have a clue. So does anyone have any ideas. Can I do wha pat Mike did and try to open an account from the Reedley Ca. branch in another state that has bbeen completely changed over to Chase,or do I have to wait until October and hope that Chase will have the same offer in Californnia at that time. I'm frustrated!!Any help will be apprecited!!

Hi: I am new to this forum and have been reading all the posts regarding the Chase offer for united Milage Plus. I noticed that you were located on the West coast, and was wondering if that was California, as I am having no luck with getting any answers from anyone. Were you luck enough to open an account in california with the bonus code, as my findings are that california is still under the Wa-Mu procedures. Could you please answer me and thank you! See my post of 6/26 I tried to make as much sense as I could since I am new to this.

Welcome to FT.
You are right. WAMU is not yet fully integrated with the Chase Bank. Those of us from California who got bonus miles on this deal, did so by opening checking accounts in other states when we were on travel and found time to walk into one of the "Real" Chase Bank branches. I know this does not help you get the bonus miles, but those are the Chase rules.

Thank you for your response. I was interested to read the posting by PatMike back in Apr. 16th. wherein his Wa-Mu /Chase bank in california called the Chase Bank in Phoenix,Ariz. (phone # on bottom of post) and helped him to open an account over the phone, and faxing them the information they need including the signature cards. Do you think that this is worth a try?? I called the Wa-Mu banking customer service # and they said that Arizona is not yet fully intregrated, so I am a bit confused. Do you think that the 15,000bonus mile and debit card promotion will be available again in California when Wa-Mu/Chase is completely changed over to Chase in October?? I'm planning a trip to Greece next year and wanted to start generating more miles especially using the debit card asap. I appreciate you taking the time to read my posts. Thanks!!

I opened my account today as well. If you live in the NYC area, ask about the promotion whereby new money deposits receive free tickets to the US Open. I believe that $15K gets you early round games, $50K same plus better seats, and $100K gets you finals or semifinals. According to my CR, this can be stacked ontop of the United promotion.

Thumbs up 10 K Finally posted!

The 10K bonus miles posted about 4 weeks after I had talked to a supervisor and a ticket for further investigation had been generated to figure out why the bonus miles had not posted despite my fulfilling all the requirements. That marks the end of usefulness of this checking account. Time to close it and look for something else to pad my mileage account with.

10,000 miles from auto-deposit posted today, 2 weeks after filing research ticket... and just in time to save me from making an irritated phone call.

Still waiting on the initial 5,000 plus what I've earned from purchases. Maybe tomorrow? Twiddling my thumbs in the meantime...

Yes, Chase charges $3 per transfer TO an outside account, but transfers FROM an outside account to your Chase account are free.

It looks like the offer has been extended through 9/30/2009. When one clicks on the original link in the first post in this thread, the date now appears valid beyond the expiration date in July.

Of course, be sure to refresh your page to obtain an original Coupon Code.

Do you think that Chase will be offering the same 15,000 bonus miles promotion for opening a new checking account for Californians once they are completely intergrated and wa-mu is out of the picture. This will happen about the 23rd. of October, so maybe too early to hear anything about it yet!!

No more offers now, I take it? Finally eligible for a Chase account, but looks like it's 10 days too late!
