Going through EWR on 5/3 I tried the SDC with the PC agents. They said it would be $50. I asked if the rules had changed regarding connections (I came from FRA) and they seemed dumbfounded.

Apparently, this still has not been implemented.

Boo... Hiss.

The airline should be happy to move out passengers space available, opening up seats they might later sell $$$ !

The agents in the IAH PC's seem to be aware of the change and can help you if you ask.

Remember - this is a fee waiver ONLY for a change to a connecting flight, not the original flight in an itinerary.

There is no longer a SDC for conx pax wishing to change to an earlier flt. SDC fee is applicable when chg. to a later flt. I appologize if my CO-workers are a bit confused on this. Have them ref GGSDC - text on line 118. They can also ref. ASB C09-22.

I did a SDC over the phone the other day. The agent knew exactly what to do and only charged me the expected $25. The only disappointment was that the receipt for the fee showed up in tiny print at the bottom of the new receipt that was e-mailed to me. Anyone not looking for this charge will never find it.

Thank you for the info! ^ I wish I had known the reference while I was in EWR.

Hartman,

The effective date for permitted no fee change to earlier cnx flt was April 27 2009. If you or any other pax were charged in error please contact either the elite line or refunds at 1.800.932.2732/promot 5. Have PNR retrieval info handy i.e. locator, op acct #, primary phone # in PNR, or tkt #.
Once charge has been refunded you should see it posted back to your cc acct. in 7-10 business days.

With checked baggage?

Anyone know if this also works with checked-in bags? Could I (and a non-elite companion) SDC our flight from a connection point at the time of checking in to our original flight? Would there be a charge?

If you have a connection A-B-C, can you SDC to an earlier A-B and keep the same B-C connection if it leaves you with a 5 hour layover in the hub city? Basically, can you SDC only one segment of a connecting itinerary?

I am flying DUB-EWR-IAD on CO, and then IAD-XXX on UA, with an unfortunate 7 hours at EWR.

CO flies EWR-XXX direct twice before I even leave for IAD.

Would this qualify for a free SDC to a direct to XXX?

No it won't since your itinerary should be wholly operated by Continental.

Can anyone at CO can tell me whether GGSDC line 18 still allow free earlier connections?

It is no longer mentioned on the website (and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned before).

https://www.continental.com/web/en-U...daychange.aspx

My friend will be stranded at IAH for a long time waiting for his connection to SFO. Want to know whether or not he should pay the $50 fee.
