Speaking of the W Las Vegas, a friend of mine claims that, if he were to buy at the W Las Vegas, they have committed to give him complimentary Plat. for as long as he owns his unit. This came in response to an objection that he raised that, since most of his SPG stays are in Vegas, he would be jeopardizing his Plat. status buy buying.

We had put in a deposit for a unit early in the process and decided not to go through with it. They sent us the deposit back and, frankly, were quite happy to do so, since they will likely sell the unit for more than we were paying. There was also an "escape clause" when the property opens, which allows you to resell your unit to them for the price you paid if they are a certain percent fully sold.

They still haven't taken our name off of some list, however, since we occasionally get flyers/letters about the deal. A few days ago, we had a huge box waiting for us at home from W corporate. I thought it was related to the W White card, but it turned out to be from the W Las Vegas. It was a really beautiful bathrobe. I may just decide to stay on the list for a while.

dead.

still a chance W might end up managing cosmopolitan though.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Related Companies (the New York developer) along with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc.'s W Hotel group are teaming up to make a bid to take over the troubled Cosmopolitan Resort Casino. This could bring the high-end W Hotel brand to the project...

Deutsche Bank now owns the project and is continuing the construction while seeking a partner. MGM Mirage, Hilton, Hyatt and Starwood are on the short list...

Deutsche Bank still owns the project and is vetting possible hotel operators. Meanwhile, Related Cos. will oversee the completion of the resort...

* hyatt (grand hyatt) was original management co.

* hilton cancelled conrad/waldorf. depending on the current state of condo sales, they might like this as a replacement. theyve also been rebranding waldorfs like crazy recently.

mgm certainly isnt interested now.

this would actually be better than original W project, especially if they dont restrict residential rentals. - there are several penthouses with fairly large private pools.

boo - delayed.

Also discussed briefly here...

Cosmopolitan takeover is a good possibility. There probably is some discussion over in FT's Las Vegas forum, too.
