Does AC Not Compare Aeroplan #s to Names?

Recently, a friend of mine (no status, not even an aeroplan member) checked into a flight and on a lark added my aeroplan number at check in (which for some disturbing reason she had memorized). Sure enough, her Boarding pass said *E, and she was then op-up'd on the flight when she went to board

This seems absurd... are these kinds of things not compared?

Wow, it is understandable that a harried CSA might not compare names but one would think that the computer system would flag it.

Though the most important thing is... did you get credit for your friend's flight?

Nope, which is really a shame since it would have put me into SE for 2009.

Well, perhaps you reaped benefits in different ways...

Come to think of it, it may or may not have been wise for you to post this information. (?)

Seems unbelievable! Sheesh, even when you deposit Tropicana PINs, the last name and AP number must match or you get a warning. (Happened when I incorrectly entered MB's AP number.) Same thing in the recent Aeroplan contest that ended about 1 month ago.

So did the boarding pass have your name and number on it, or her name and your number?

If it wasn't the friend's name on the BP, I'd be surprised if the latex gloves didn't come out!

Hmm.. I had no knowledge until after the fact, and am sure she didn't realize the implications, so I'm not too worried there, but you're probably right. Could a moderator please nuke this thread? I'll send an anonymous letter to AC alerting them to (what I assume) is a systems glitch.
