Lounge access in OSL?

A friend of mine will be travelling to OSL and she asked me about something I dont't have any idea about. I am a SK Gold, but is there any lounge in OSL for those who are not tier members, with access with an entrance fee? Unfortunately, I will not join her this time. :(

I noticed that OSL seems to be about the only major airport in Scandinavia with no Priority Pass lounges. :td:

I do not think you can pay a entrance fee the OSL Lounge, which is used by the non-Star airllines.

In the future the company that run the OSL-lounge might open another lounge with a service level more in line with what PriorityPass is willing to pay for. (According to a representative from the Company).

Strange! How can SK have a major hub that is not up to today's most basic standards??? :td: Although being SK*G, I have found the personnel at the OSL airport inpolite and sometimes even rude. Until now I thought that I had just had bad luck, but now I start to think that there must be something really strange about how OSL has been planned and is run.

SAS has two lounges at OSL, Scandinavian Lounge for *Gold and Business Lounge for business class customers.

Basic Standards? I don't understand what you mean..

Do you expect everyone without status to get access to the lounges? You can't buy access to ANY SAS lounges world wide

Non of the European Star Alliance members sell access to their lounges to non elites and economy passengers. If you want access, you need to have status or pay for the Business product. This does not work like it does in the US..

To solve your problem, you can give your friend access to the SAS Business Lounge at OSL by buying a business class ticket

Thanks, but I am perfectly aware of the SK lounges at OSL. I have been there! But at all major airports there are also other lounges, where one may have access with a Priority Pass or with credit card payment. OSL seems to have none of those! And now, that is surprising! :td:

Just for the record, my friend is travelling on SK EB, but in economy and she doesn't have any status in SK.

But what does SAS have to do with that? They do not own the airport. Why would SK care about what OSL does about other lounges? I am confused?

Well, my question ended up here just because my friend will be flying on SK and OSL is a major SK hub.

But still, why should SAS provide lounges for non-status, non C-class travellers and COMPETITOR'S passengers?

The reason why there are no other lounges that the SK lounges and the OSL Lounge are the rents which are extremely high at OSL, thus "low-class" lounges like Diners Lounge etc, can't afford it

It's clear that it's not SAS's responsibility to provide a lounge offer for Economy passengers with no status at any airport. While it's the right forum to ask this question, SAS is definitely not to blame. Any complaints should go to OSL or Priority Pass or any other company who are in the business of selling lounge access to these types of passengers.

There's also the space issue at OSL. There's no room for a new lounge until the expansion gets underway.

While all that might be true, it is equally true that SAS has/had a lot to say about the planning and the development of OSL. As SK*G I am not willing to have all folks in the Scandinavian/Business Lounge, but I am not against the existance of other Lounges, also for the sake of competition. After all, at many other airports, like FCO, RIX, KBP, BUD and so on SAS uses exactly those "independent" lounges whose existance it seems to have banned from OSL.

There IS an independent lounge at OSL. It's adjacent to the SAS lounges and it's called the OSL lounge... But you can't buy access there either... You have to be in Business/First or have status with OW or that other alliance.. ;)

As far as I know OSL is not the only major gateway with no priority pass/diners lounge FRA / MUC (at least T1 Fra T2 Muc , as well as LHR T3) also lacks these lounges. And I think several more major airports lacks it as well. If one need the lounge access that badly its no bigger deal then buying a c ticket. Or to upgrade with points to c.

Just for the record, SK doesn't give you lounge access in the case of upgrade with points to C, unless you are a tier member.

Ok. Then OSL has three lounges: the Scandinavian/Business, BA and this strange Oslo Lounge.

Let us now compare this situation with HEL. The latter has 8 lounges and the 9th (provided with SPA, sauna and swimming pool!) is under construction. Out of the present 8 lounges in HEL one is SK/*A, four others are exclusively AY/OW and three are "independent" lounges with access with Priority Pass or upon credit card payment.

It seems that the OSL airport authorities, under the obvious influence of SK, are stuck to the oldish concept with lounge access understood more as a "reward" rather than as a service to offer. Sorry to say, but OSL isn't up to the present-day standards. :td:
