Of course the OP could instead start in Sweden, fly EWR-CPH, buy separete tickets CPH-ARN-CPH, do the extra trip and return to Sweden, but that might be less convenient.

It seems there are quite a few miles left. Eg CPH-SIN-TYO-NYC-ORD-ARN is 21,240 miles, leaving 7700 miles (or even with StarLite 2700 miles). With 7700 one gets far further than Europe: for example CPH-DXB-ZRH-ARN would be only 6900 miles (and Middle-East is in same zone with Europe, so this should be allowed).

That was my point, but if you return to your origin then the trip is over. So if you live in STO and start somewhere else then you can return to STO when you are done and then fly intra-Europe later. If VST is not a STO co-terminal then it is a very convenient way to start the trip. Well, it's not that convenient because the only flight of the day is at 06:xx. I suppose that you could do the reverse. The CPH-VST flight is at 20:xx.

It's odd that CPH-VST doesn't show up on the *A timetable.......

No, VST is in Sweden, as is STO. So if you start from VST, the RTW is over once you touch ground in STO. One has to begin from a different country for this trick to work.

No way. Returning to the country does not end the RTW. (Imagine if that were true with the US). It's only an option to end it if you are maxing out miles. As pointed out by Henry, you could end the RTW open-jaw in CPH in the past if you started from STO.

Realizing that VST is a STO co-terminal, but you could start it from CPH or any other Swedish city that is not a STO co-terminal. In the past they had a flight from Norrkoping to CPH but I think they stopped that several years ago. But a one way ARN-CPH is probably the best option here as others mentioned.

Really? If only I had realised that a bit earlier... well, opens up interesting options for later trips :)

SAS will suspend the route at the end of March, maybe that's why...

No, but you can only fly domestically once you're back.

From the rules:

"In the country of origin not more than two domestic transfers per direction permitted and not more than one international departure and not more than one international arrival permitted."

Ok. I guess that I was never well informed about this since all my RTWs were ex-Egypt, so didn't really have the option to manipulate this issue.

VST was apropos for me because I am going there shortly. I first checked the *A timetable but then the VST website listed the flights. I guess it is/was an ABB shuttle of sorts?

I guess there are a few of these single company motivated routes in the system. I am aware of CPH-Bologna for Tetrapak. Any others that come to mind for SAS?
