Security status of CPH

Does anyone know when CPH will lose it's EU clause downgrading it's security status? experienced both in AMS and FRA recently to be put through extra security screens since the flight was ex-CPH... very annoying.... :(

The Article 15 restrictions will be lifted when CAA/CPH redesign parts of the airport or adjust deplaning and/or boarding processes. :( I wouldn't be shocked if it's no earlier than around next summer.

Thank the EU for this nonsense. That is Jacques Barrot needs a tongue-lashing.

By the way, the EU and Danish governments use of "confidential" on security grounds in this matter does not inspire confidence. The so-called gaps related to so-called Article 15 are well known, yet the government hides behind "secrecy".

Initially the so-called Article 15 hit was to be lifted upon around 6-8 weeks of consistent EU whitehat team positive verification. The time frame initially estimated has come and gone, twice over. See my prior post about what I consider a non-shocking time frame in which for this to be pulled.

How many people are affected by this? I guess only people that connects at a different point of transfer past CPH. (E.g. me when I flew SEA-CPH-FRA-NCE.)

It should probably not affect passengers transferring through CPH unless they have a double transfer.

Theoretically this may also affect passengers arriving at their final destination within the EU even in non-double transfer situations. Example: where the screening of CPH passengers is done on arrival at another EU airport because the arriving flights from CPH come into an area in the departure area where passengers can mingle with departing passengers if there were not additional screening upon arrival.

Now you will ask me where this happens, other than in theory, right? Originating in CPH with a final destination of AMS comes to mind. Starting in a Schengen country, transiting CPH (i.e., single transfer) and ending in AMS comes to mind too.

yes as stated it happende to me in both AMS and FRA (where part of the transfer (e.g. Shengen arrivals-east lets you go straight into the terminal, which is why ex-CPH busses arrive at Shengen arrivals-WEST with an extra security check before being allowed to mingle...)

GUWonder Thanx for the reply - not good prospects I must admit.... :(

Sounds great! Does that mean that the additinal screening at TRF (when I travel CPH-TRF) no longer will be? Anyhow, great news!

Finally. Also hopes that CPH soon will open more security screenings. The queues has been far too long lately.

If arrivals at TRF from AMS don't get the on arrival at TRF security screening, then the CPH-TRF security screening will be phased out as well.

CPH expects that the problems with long queues at security will be over by the end of January 2007. To make a long story short, there simply hasn´t been enough trained security staff for the past half a year or so, but in a month from now they expect to be fully staffed again:

From Børsen:

And around summertime the new central security checkpoint will open:

Heathrow is an absolute nightmare nowadays, I passed the airport a week before christmas and it took over 45 mins to get past security.
And of course the days when you could (inofficially) use the fast track with an EBG-card are over.

I have never seen such an empty transit hall at LHR T3, who is in the mood for taxfree shopping (if there is even time for it) after all the security hassle??
I certainly wasn't, not after having been treated like cattle for almost an hour.

Both ARN and CPH are heavens in comparison to LHR!

LHR and AMS are the worst

I agree! I also think the people working security at AMS are treating passengers really poorly. I have been through AMS many times and they are hardly ever polite when I experience their behavior.

In my opinion they need more training.

At one point, I had to call the police because a security guy grabbed me and comitted a sexual assult. Which he later denied. I am still waiting to see what the end result with be. Seems like a he said/she said problem.
