FT SAS gathering at ARN?

I've read about FT gatherings at different locations around the world. How about a gathering at ARN where we could talk to SAS officials, check out the new tower, the simulators, technicians and planes during service and then have dinner at Radisson Sky City?

I went thru a "scared of flying course" a few years ago after my mother died - cost me about $1200 but did wonders. During this course we got to try the simulators and lots of fun stuff at ARN. Maybe we can arrange something similare if we scramble 50 Eurobonus frequent flyers?

Just a thought.

I'm definitely in if we set up an FT gathering!
Doesn't really even have to be anything spectacular - just a nice dinner and drink and chat about everything from EB earnings and service to whether Earth really is round or if its flat (never flown the Concorde, so hasn't seen any concrete proofs myself! ;) :D)
It would be great to meet up, and if we even could get an EB representative to join us, that would be amazing! Anyway - count me in! :) ^

By the way - $1200 sounds like A LOT of money!
Had no idea they were so expensive! What did it include (I have a relative who has such a scare of flying)!
But as you say - it probably did wonders since you're now a frequent traveller by the looks of everything! Well done! :)

I'd definitely be interested, but I'd never be able to convince the Mrs. that it's worth USD1200... Good idea, though... Let's see how many show their interest here on the forum and then we can contact someone at SK/EB and ask how it might be done!

When I felt more and more scared even though I had 200+ flights "under the belt" I decided to get this fixed once and for all. I found four different courses of which one was being offered by SAS and cost 8.500 SEK (about $1.200).

It's a three day course beginning with some technical discussions, weather and basic flying theory. Then some psychology talk. We went through a short FA-course including evacuation on the slides, met the service crew and got to "try everything" on B737 and MD80, visited the control tower at ARN, visited the flight control center at ARN, tried the MD80 simulators for one hour and did a flight in cockpit from ARN to ESNN (Midlanda - Sundsvall).

For me it was more than just a "scared of flying course" :)

I have a few pictures here:

I'm in as well, but lets keep the budget a tad lower :) And hope you don't mind if I dont fly SK there...

I'm in ARN on July 1 killing time from 17.15h to 22h while waiting for my flight to OUL. We could meet in one of the eateries in Skycity? McDs is available for the really cheap ones ;)

Great idea. Count me in, but preferable a little lower than 1200 bucks. There’s a lot to do between 1200 and Mc Ds :)

Maybe we could start with a lounge invasion and get some drinks (OSL lounge is not as full as the ARN one :p ), then have dinner somewhere after?

Maybe we can invite someone from SAS?

Any other suggestions??

We should definitely get together. I’m guessing larsll is a good organizer??

 I think I have done my fair share of involunteering this month. ;) And since I live in France/UK and Bjornstrom lives in Sweden AND had the idea... the challenge has been passed on! :D :D :D

Mental note to self; never ever come up with a good idea and do the mistake of telling anyone. ;) :p

That's what you get for a good deed!
What do people say about doing a CDG trip though?
I'm planning to do a couple of ARN-CDG SAT-SUN trips in July for a break and an extra 9000 on my account. Anybody who wants to join and meet up in Paris?

Is this similar to the AA challenge? ;) Will Bjornstrom get Platinum if he does this? We'll just have to wait and see...:D
