I would say that if your going to buy some SAS stock, wait till the issuance of the new shares. There is a stipulation in the bailout of SAS by Denmark and Sweden that they will have to issue new shares and convert their debts. The market might have prices it in already but you don't want to be in a position where you instantly get diluted.

Please do let us know about the results of your endavours. I'm planning to purchase stock for that exact reason and will (and already am) facing similar difficulties.

I guess it may be time to look into how the call and put options market for SAS shares can be played if needing to hold the shares for a longer period of time than desirable, given SAS's financial fragility. Q&A: https://www.sasgroup.net/investor-re...s-and-answers/ Exact terms: https://www.sasgroup.net/investor-re...rivacy-policy/ The "qualifying date" is Nov 30 each year. Benefits will be available for one year, to qualify this year you'll have to own the shares by Nov. 30th. To qualify next year you'll have to own the shares for a year before this date. Afaik the status will be given to you on Apr. 1 and it will be valid for one year + 3 months (or longer if you "requalify" by owning shares the next year.). But you can't just quickly buy shares to get the benefits for a year as in the future it'll be required to have owned the shares a full year before the Nov 30 date. Shareholder EBG is not qualifying for LTG. |

So buying the shares in time to have them registered by November 30th (of 2020) with SAS is sufficient to get the EBG/EBD status for use in 2021 as a shareholder even if selling the shares at Christmas time this year (2020)?

Note that there is a delay of two business days when buying and selling shares in the Nordics. If you buy on Monday, then shares and money change hands on Wednesday. Note that there are SAS forward contracts on the Swedish market, in case you prefer that instead of options.
It seems that you need to log in to provide your Eurobonus number in order to use the benefit. It says that your contract partner is SAS AB (556606-8499), but the Eurobonus programme is owned by Scandinavian Airlines System Denmark-Norway-Sweden (902001-7720). They should not be mixed up with Scandinavian Airlines System AB (556045-9868). All three of them are registered at the same address. |
A quite unattractive way to maintain status with EuroBonus I have to say...

I guess that depends on how the SAS share price will develop. It could even be a profitable way to get EBG/EBD status but it could also turn out to be a very expensive way. If only we knew...
It seems like doing the EBD shareholder thing doesn't come with being able to hand out EBG the way those who earn EBD by flying can do. If it came with being able to hand out EBG, it would be a better deal. |
