Question Is 36 minutes between connecting flights in San Jose enough?

Trying to book an upcoming flight. One option has us coming in on United and 36 minutes later going out on Alaska Airlines to Maui. Is this doable? Or no way? Never been thru San Jose before, so I don't know. Thanks for any help!

It is a very small airport, but 36 minutes would be cutting it very fine, even with just hand luggage IMO.

I would probably leave a bit more time, since its Maui and missing a flight is like missing part of your vacation.

Thanks for the info --- we did decide that was NOT enough time and will arrive in Maui a few hours later, but that's better than having to rebook and possibly miss flights, etc.

You can make it from arrival to boarding at SJC within 36 minutes, provided you don't have significant mobility challenges (including family in tow). But there's no guarantee your inbound flight arrives on time. If it's even 15 minutes late you might not make your connection. And since flights to Hawaii are once a day, you'll miss a whole day (at least) if you're 15 minutes late.

arrival to boarding is not the same as arrival to departure.
