Hey all,
I just noticed this discussion...

I'm the community manager at Ebates.com, and it's great to see both sides of your feedback.

I just thought I'd come in and give a trio of handy hints about the Big Fat Payment.

1) If you have Paypal, it really makes your life easier. We send out almost all the payments in one batch, and since it's a direct payment, it shows up in no time. Plus, you don't have to trust the USPS with your check. They do a wonderful job, but there are some checks that look like they were dragged under a mail truck before attempting delivery.

2) Make sure, as the payment date gets closer, to check that your contact info is up to date. Mind you, even if we pay via Paypal, we still need a current address.

3) Be patient - if you are looking for a paper check and it is well beyond reasonable arrival time (meaning, like 2-3 weeks from shipment date) then send an e-mail to customer service. Half the reason they end up being so far behind is that we get about 200-300 emails the day after checks go out asking about where checks are. Then we have to respond to them, and we do responses in chronological order, so by the time legitimately late checks go out, we are backed up a few days.

If you have other questions, drop me a line and let me know!

anyone having problems with ebates money posting?

Hi. Increasingly I am having problems with getting items posted as cash into my account. I think the majority of them are not "online" orders such as buying something from the internet, although I have been having some of those problems as well, but recent problems have to do with getting credits from Holiday Inn and car rental companies posting. It often takes one or more times to rectify and get the credit posted. While they say most post within 2 days, they won't do anything to follow up until after 30 days.

Am I the only one having these problems? Anyone have strategies to follow up on missing credit?

honu Aug 10, 2009 6:47 am

No, you're not the only one. I've had problems with a Holiday Inn stay and a stay at a Residence Inn (and perhaps a Comfort Inn and Sleep Inn, not sure yet?). I wrote about these discrepancies and the problem was addressed relatively quickly, but I haven't received a check yet.

silver springer Aug 13, 2009 5:51 am

I have been considering switching to fatwallet but fatwallet only gives 3% back for Holiday Inn and Ebates gives 5%.

I would consider it "normal" for hotel stays or car rentals to take a while to post. Why would you even expect a hotel or car reservation to post within two days? After all, you might end up cancelling it!

Why not just wait till after 30 days, as they advise?

I guess my point was these don't post automatically; you must keep track of them and bug the ebates customer service folks after 30 days. There are some online sites like shoebuy.com that post within a reasonable time, other things do not.

Counsellor Aug 23, 2009 7:35 am

Hotel stays and car rentals do seem to post slowly, but as was mentioned, they probably won't post until actually "consumed". Then the hotel or car rental firm has to notify ebates that it was indeed consumed.

I recently (this month) had a hotel stay from back in January finally post. I had given up on it, but they finally came through (and I didn't remind them, either).

Ebates - anyone using it ? which one is the best ?are you satisfied?

i recently signed up for ebates. just have to remember to use it. lol. i'm terrible about multi tasking.

has anyone gotten a check ? is there a way to have it go to a pay pal account instead of get a paper check ?

are other services better ?

signed up for another companies today . i'd like to keep one and keep it consistent . was wondering if anyone has done any comparisons. i suppose it depends on who you are purchasing goods / services through to know what is the best rate as they all seem to vary. i hear a lot about bing too.

cepheid Sep 9, 2009 7:28 pm

There are plenty of ebates threads around here... I recommend searching for "ebates." Most people have gotten payouts, although recently there were stories of advertisers not paying Ebates, causing Ebates to delay payment. PayPal is the preferred method of payment... perhaps you should spend some time on the Ebates site reading about how it works - that will answer many of your questions.

FatWallet, uPromise, and other sites offer better returns on some stores, poorer on others... there is no one "best" site. pgary has a relatively good comparison site up, though I don't remember the URL.

dracs Sep 9, 2009 9:08 pm

I am using it but will have to wait till november to get my due :D

In your settings on left hand navigation menu ,you have cash back method you can select for paypal option from there.

Add me to the list of Ebates not paying up. I know I linked to Tirerack from Ebates but they are saying -

"Thank you for your patience. After researching your order, it has been determined that your order was not credited to the Ebates shopping program. This research is done in conjunction with the store to provide the most accurate results. Any other promotional discounts used during this purchase, may over ride the eligibility for a rebate. In this case, the order was credited to another affiliate site, not Ebates. We too would have liked to have earned credit for this order. We hope that your next purchase will be credited to Ebates without an issue."

Interesting thing is their statement "In this case, the order was credited to another affiliate site, not Ebates" - but they refuse to tell me which site !

This is a common problem for some of us who shop multiple rewards/loyalty sites.
ALWAYS clear your cache before going to a different rewards/loyalty site.

Opening multiple accounts?

I finally received a response to my email--they said that I have two accounts, and as such, they can't pay me until they consolidate them. If I have two accounts, it's news to me!

Nop. Referred 12 people, who made small transactions and I got referral amount but they have questioned me how they manage to find small transactions( walmart music downloads) and they wouldn't give me any referral money.I was offered 20$ for as settlement which I refused. I did as per their terms and conditions but the guy Dylan just mocked and told me that I must have read that its at their discretion whether they would give me money or not . So they refuse to give me.

I've had two accounts for ages, no problem - am I not supposed to? of course I didn't get any referral credit for opening the second one. I use one for personal and one for family to keep things separate.

As to referring 12 people all of which made small purchases ? all from walmart music downloads? ... that I can see them being suspicious about. Of course if all 12 are real people and they actually made those purchases, you should simply have them verify those people exist and made the purchases. They used to require referrals earned at least $5 or $10 in cashback before you received the bonus, did they do away with that?

ncfinfan Mar 3, 2010 7:11 am

The current referral rules state referred person has to "make a minimum purchase of $20 within 90 days of joining." Previously I think you are correct it was they had to earn $5.

Yes current referral scheme is different from previous one.New terms clearly say minimum $20. I don't think they had any condition for minimum a referral person must spend last august. " You need to have minimum $5.01 which excludes any referral amount" to cash out , that is it( It talks only about you and not referred person. Referral money gets deposited in your account only when referred person makes eligible transaction.I had clearly asked them in mail also that time how much they need to spend 30$ or 100$ or what. This was their reply.

"Your referral bonuses are pending a qualifying cash back purchase through their accounts. So far, the purchases have not posted to your account as well as your referrals. When these variables are in effect, you will receive the promotional bonuses."

Transaction were made and referral money got transferred into my account that time. I have already offered " Dylan their customer service manager" the phone number of 12 people and also told him that all people have used their credit cards but He is adamant not to give me referral money.

" Most important thing is , they allowed that money to sit over there and I kept using their service only to find that after 6 months when it was time to pay me back (feb15) they removed that time"

Do they both pay out to the same PayPal account, or do you receive two checks, or one and one? They're saying that I have two accounts, because Mr. Kipper and I each have ebates accounts, but both email addresses for the accounts are tied to 1 PayPal account.

One is paid by paypal and one is paid by check. I didn't realize this until I got paid on both accounts in Feb, which is probably the first time both got paid out at the same time - I use fatwallet, mrrebates, and mileage malls as well, so not that many transactions go to ebates, just when their rates equal or exceed what other sites offer or the value I give to miles at that time...

I didn't intentionally set them up this way... Paypal wasn't even an option when the first account was opened, and I guess I just never changed it.

I didn't know you could share paypal accounts, I just realized you can link multiple email addresses to one paypal account the other day. I am surprised that ebates can determine that they are linked (which I understand from your post that they did know).

One would think that linked email addresses would be knowledge only you and paypal would have. slightly disturbing. someone pays your paypal account and they can see all your other linked email addresses??

Contact them about it. If you referred yourself, or others in your household with the same address, and then tried to use the same computer to complete offers for those people to receive your bonuses, it is quite possible they removed those bonuses from your account.

PDILLM Feb 16, 2016 10:01 am

Received mine on 2/13. Definitely contact them. Kipper is 100% correct. If using multiple accounts in the same household, I always kick off TOR just so there is no matching of IP addresses.

chouay Feb 17, 2016 5:45 am

That's funny cause my husband made one and also my sister in law and brother made one. I was excited to tell them around the holidays about ebates. She too did not get her payment. Contact them but Cathleen told her the same as you guys told me. I got 30 BACK from all that holiday shopping only and she got none. QUITE upsetting.

My guess is that if there are multiple household accounts, they are saying they were fraudulently established.

From their T&C's (bolding mine):

Any failure to comply with this Program Agreement, any fraud or abuse relating to the accrual or receipt of cash back rewards, or any misrepresentation of any information furnished to Ebates or its affiliates by you or anyone acting on your behalf may result in the termination of your membership in the Program and forfeiture of your accrued Cash Back rewards.

The determination of whether or not a purchase made through an Ebates Affiliate Store qualifies for Cash Back is at the sole discretion of Ebates. If an Affiliate Store fails to report a transaction to Ebates or withholds payment to Ebates for any reason, Ebates reserves the right to cancel the Cash Back associated with that transaction. If Ebates has any reason to suspect fraudulent activity is associated with your account, Ebates reserves the right to delay or withhold payment of Cash Back. You give Ebates permission to review your account with Affiliate Stores in cases where Ebates suspects fraudulent activity. Ebates is not responsible for lost or stolen payments, including gift cards. Ebates is not responsible for payments delivered to the wrong address through no fault of Ebates or for payment errors made by payment partners like PayPal.

Want to sign up my SO for an ebates account, but worried the same address will trigger something.
Currently have a balance of $700 so worried about risking an account closure.
Would like the extra account to have the SO order online things on her own account.
Anyone else have multiple ebates accounts for the same household?

Wondering if Ebates allows you to share your account for your household?
My SO shops online quite a bit more than me, and was wondering if we can use the same Ebates account, meaning she would go through their portal on my account, but pay with her own card and info.
Wondering if that is okay, or if all payments have to be made in my name and with my credentials to track properly.
Also, if that is not allowed, can we have 2 accounts if we are in the same house? I know some sites are very strict with that sort of thing.
Basically just wondering how people here use Ebates if more than one person in the house uses it.
