Free Invites Still Available.
I would suggest anyone who has any "SPYWARE" concerns to read the terms upon signing up with Gmail... That way you can govern yourself accordingly.

Anyone who has concerns can read the Gmail privacy policy here. This is in NO WAY spyware. Period. Here's an excerpt from the privacy policy:
"We never share your personally identifying information with any advertiser as part of this service, unless you specifically ask us to do so. When you are logged into your Gmail account, Google will display targeted ads and other relevant information based on the content of the email displayed. In a completely automated process, computers process the text in a message and match it to ads or related information in Google's extensive database. No human reads your mail to target ads or other information without your consent. Advertisers receive a record of the total number of impressions and clicks for each ad. They do not receive any personal information about the person who viewed the ad. If you click on an ad, Google will send a referring URL to the advertiser's site identifying that you are visiting from Gmail. Google does not send personally identifying information to advertisers with the referring URL. Once you are on the advertiser's site, however, the advertiser may collect personal information about you. Google does not control or take responsibility for the privacy policies of other sites." |

Please include your email address in your PM (as I need an email address to forward the invite to). Thanks! ADDED: Several new users have contacted me for Gmail invites and have not added to Flyertalk through posting. This leads me to believe that users are signing up just to get an invite, which I feel is against the spirit of the offer. |

I have 100 to give out...so please PM me if you like one!

What Google do is scan your email and target the ads on the sidebar to stuff that's relevant to your mail contents (theoretically). Thus, when your sister emails you to tell you about her dog, you'll get petfood ads and so on. In practice you're like to have a lot of poor hits but as I can't even remember looking at the sidebar in the time I've been using Gmail, it's no big deal. This is no different to the way they select the Adwords on pages on the search engine. It's not spyware but it is the cost of using a pretty good, free email service.
As an aside, I've got the usual stack of GMail invites. Feel free to PM me on the offchance the other posters run their 2,000,000,000,000 invites out. |

GMail invites FREE - 100 Remaining
Rather than burying this in the last thread, I thought I'd offer out a few GMail invites. Private message me your email address for an invite. I have about 100 to give out.
|
If you have a US based cell phone you can now also get an invitation sent direct to your cell phone (via sms).
Btw, if somebody else needs more invites, I also have a bunch still left. |
I have a bunch as well.
|
I just merged the 2 "Gmail" threads. We really don't need 2 of them. Given that anyone with a cellphone can get an account nowadays these threads are fairly pointless anyway. Between my accounts I have over 1900 invites available
