Would someone explain just what is a free $10 GC from Restaurant.com is?

How is it used, restrictions, etc.?

It's $10 to be redeemed for the restaurant of your choice at Restaurant.com. There is typically a min. spend of $15 for those coupons. So, you end up being able to order $15 worth of food, and pay the restaurant only $5.00.

Once certificates are printed, they are valid for a year.

Most restaurants won't accept them for single diners (usually, you need 2 people, but I've dined alone before).

Each restaurant is different - the terms for each one are clearly stated before your eyes when purchasing. Go look at Restaurant.com and it will answer all of you questions.

Except for residents of California; they do not expire here (thankfully; I have some several years old!).

I have used old certificates with no problem as long as the restaurant still participates. Sometimes I have been refused when there has been a change in management and they are no longer accepted. Restaurant.com will give you credit for certificates not honored.

Yeah - I've found that this can actually be the majority of the time in some cases. On a recent Pacific Northwest trip, 6 of my 11 coupons were rejected by the restaurants, who claimed "we no longer participate, but Restaurant.com won't take us off their site!". They told me to get credit for them, which I called in and did.

Thank the good Lord for Paypal, if it weren't for it, I wouldn't be allowed to buy Restaurant.com gift certs these using my Canadian credit card (same goes for NWA.com tickets!).

Hmm...a few of the restaurants that I really want to hit in my area are temporarily sold out of certificates and it suggests checking back after the first of the month. If anyone has a code that becomes active around 2/1, please post it here! Thanks in advance.

Definitely worth signing up for their emails, because Restaurant.com will always just send you the current code and discount %. It is ALWAYS at least 50% and as high as 80% I have seen.

Typically, there are NO COUPONS available for the first week or so of the month, and the coupons get progressively better throughout the month. There are exceptions from time to time, but that's how it normally works.

Remember before you purchase your restaurant.com certificate to go through a miles earning portal. I received American airlines miles in the past, but note they're not on the merchant list anymore- but Delta, Marriott and PC are.

Another option is the Citi Thank You point shopping portal.

Its 15 points per dollar and does stack with the discount codes.

This use to be great when the thank you points had fixed point returns but still isn't bad (fixed points ends at the end of Feb).
