Zappos is gone from the alphabetic list of merchants. Just checked. "Wonder why?"

All of our purchases posted from yesterday!!
I'm curious to see if these points will remain in our accounts.

I now have all six transactions I did in my account. I don't see how they could justify removing the points. We didn't violate any rules. Maybe we took advantage of the offer in a way they didn't intend, but that's not against the rules. Stuff like that happens all the time, whether one is collecting online points or using coupons at the grocery store. Example: You hear once in while about some homemaker buying $500.00 of groceries for a dollar with their coupons. That doesn't make it illegal or immoral, does it?
And if MyPoints just decides to take back points user's have earned, just because they accumulated them in a way they didn't intend, it will make the program worthless, as customers would come to the conclusion their points can be confiscated at any time. Also, think of the litigation and backlash that would result if MyPoints arbitrarly did this. So I think our points are valid and won't be reclaimed. After all, I only earned 3,000 points doing this, which I value at a little over $20. Is it worth it for MyPoints to try to get such small amounts back, or just accept it as the cost of doing business?

I purchased my $12 gift cert last night. Waited 3 hours but it didn't show up. This morning there it was, along with 500 Mypoints in my account. But when I went to the Mypoints site to make my first purchase I noticed Zappos was gone (hadn't read the posts here yet). Oh well, guess I will just get my socks and forget about any extra points--at least I got the first 500. That gave me enough to spend on a $25 gift cert from Mypoints, so that's what I did--cashed them out.

Zappos is back (at least I see it right now). 500 points hourly, still $10.00 minimum gift certificate purchase.

Yes, lucky I checked because I was going to just go straight to the Zappos web site and buy my socks to be done with the whole thing! So went through the Mypoints link and bought 1 pack for $6.46; entered in my gift cert #. However it still asks you for a credit card--won't accept the order without it. So I put that in. I can't tell if my card's going to get charged or if the gift cert worked. Got the 500 points pop-up window. So I then had to e-mail them to ask why it's not showing that it's being charged against the gift cert. A couple hours later I ordered my second pack; same thing. They did e-mail me earlier today that the sales tax on the gift cert was in error and they'd credit my account. This is turning out to be quite a hassle actually. We'll see what they say tomorrow.

Great! I just used my $10 gift certificate to buy a $11 cert. I might try this a few more times before eventually buying my socks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I was thinking about that too. Great minds think alike. I just can't figure-out why they charge sales tax on gift certificates, when they also charge sales tax on purchases. Is this double taxation?

I bought $10 cert with $1 cert and used a credit card. The pop up came up so I hope it shows up!

GRRRR. I have 6 $10 gift certs I bought in the last couple of days, trying to be "fair" and not even trying to trick their system. Now they won't let me apply them to the $69 pair of shoes I was wanting to buy. Any suggestions?

lynowens Mar 12, 2003 7:24 pm

Oops. I spoke too soon. With a second request they offered to manually combine them to a new single certificate # that the web site could take.

I have been getting fairly regular points on this. Love this forum. 2 Circuit City $50 gift cards = a free DVD player or printer for my computer. Hope they come soon.

Last 2 times I have placed my Zappos orders though I did not get a pop-up window with confirmation of points. Anyone else tried lately? These were in the last 2 hours.

I just too purchased a $10 GC and didn't get any confirmation.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

My browser can't even go to Zappo's now. There some "redirect error". Odd...
