GiftCertificates.com Problems

I have been attempting to place orders through GoldPoints at giftcertificates.com (currently 75 points + 18.75 AA miles/$), using various coupon codes. None of the numerous coupon codes now available will work. Anybody run into the same problem?

msrohud Nov 23, 2001 3:54 pm

I ran into problems early this morning. The first problem was that the link from Goldpoints wasn't taking me to the GiftCert.com site. That seemed to "work itself out" after a few hours. Then I ran into a problem with code for Nov. 23rd not taking. When I checked dealhunting.com early this afternoon, they mentioned that the code had problems early, but was now working. I was finally able to get it all to work at once! Code I used was good today only: $10 off $50 SMAFFTKY2001

cactuspete Nov 23, 2001 4:08 pm

OK, that one worked - thanks! Still can't get any of the other ones to take. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Also, Dealhunting.com is reporting that you can use this code several times. I just did it on my spouse's GP acct, so we'll see if it will go through.

I sure wish I knew how you were all going to GiftCertificates from goldpoints. After I click on the goldpoints link, it tries to take me to http://www.GiftCertificates.com/inde...22O%2AMPJpouaA which doesn't work.

The link from Goldpoints I have used is the one in the Home & Garden category. Hope this helps. Keep trying, as I had a lot of problems with the link early this morning.

Can anyone please tell me how long it takes to get the certs after ordering? I have 2 Marriott stays in Dec. and would like to take advantage of the 20% off.

Thanks in advance!

paradocs--the best way to order the gift certificates is to order a supercertificate first which comes immediately by email and then order the desired certificate. This saves the shipping costs and these have always arrived in about 4-7 days. As for the codes not working I have talked extensively with customer service and it seems the older codes were all diabled because of abuse. I get mixed answers as to what the abuse is.

I ordered a bunch yesterday and used the free shipping code for Goldpoints. I went back today to order some more and they will not accept the code now because I "already used it". But with 75pts per $ another $2.95 for an order won't break my bank. Good luck!

I tried to order through GoldPoints this morning and got the following message:

Error seems to be fixed - I got through to them with no problems. (This was through Home and Garden - but I think the link is the same through the other categories.)

Same problems again all day today. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Don't know if this works with Goldpoints, but with Mypoints, this is how I get myself gift certificates with no shipping charge and Mypoints points:

1. Go through Mypoints site to giftcertificates.com.
2. Purchase a Supercertificate to send to myself.
3. Redeem the Supercertificate for a paper giftcertificate to mail to me at home.

I use the same e-mail address for the entire transaction.

By doing this, I get mypoints points for purchases at places I'd go to anyway, i.e. Blockbuster, AMC Movies.

I've also gotten the message that the server was experiencing high traffic and was unavailable. I finally got in with no problems at 10:00 PM EST last night. Try late at night or early in the morning.

Still can't get in...Linkshare message.

This is annoying.

I've tried it from a couple of diferent point sites (including MyPoints). They all do the same thing. Link expired.

Do you think they are withdrawing from all bonus programs? Kind of like Amazon did.

I can get in the site the normal way though. Should I go ahead and buy?

highgamma Nov 29, 2001 5:46 am

Sent an e-mail to goldpoints.com CS. I'll post the response.

Pat H Nov 29, 2001 7:26 am

I also can no longer get in. I sent an email to Goldpoints last night but no response yet.

Here is a mail I received yesterday from Goldpoints CS. It doesn't address the reason why the partnership was stopped or if any outstanding points will be credited but I have asked for further clarification and will post here when I get a reply.

Thank you for contacting Gold Points Rewards regarding our website.
Unfortunately, Giftcertificates.com is no longer a Gold Points Partner.
I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you.

Looks like giftcertificate.com is no longer a mypoints.com partner. Don't see them on the site.

Boy, am I bummed. I was adding up all the miles I was going to get. I also haven't received points credit for $50 of gc's that I ordered last week and received today.

ontheroad Nov 29, 2001 4:22 pm

Yeah, I noticed today that Mypoints no longer links to gc. However, I did receive points credit for my order on 11/26.
