No clickrewards, but they do give miles for a CC deposit and a $25 referral bonus through January the end of '01, at lighthousebank! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I also wrote in complaining to COMPUBANK. I have no use for this account without the mileage. What a shame....it was SO EASY to earn miles this way!
|
I too opened an account with CompuBank solely because of the clickmiles. I would much rather earn miles with a debit card than a credit card, so now I'm out of luck....
I wrote CompuBank and informed them I will be closing my account. I also wrote Clickrewards to let them know they should remove the promotion from their home page. UGH! -Sabrina |
I got a response from Clickrewards:

We thank you for your understanding and hope you continue to enjoy the many exciting earning opportunities at www.clickrewards.com! If you have any further questions or suggestions, please e-mail us at [email protected]! Best Regards, Evan Customer Support Operations www.clickrewards.com Original Message Follows: ------------------------- I recently opened an account with CompuBank because I was thrilled with the opportunity to earn clickmiles with them. I received a message yesterday stating that they will no longer be part of the Clickrewards program effective 2/1/01. You should consider removing the promotion on the Clickrewards.com home page that says "earn unlimited Clickmiles when you bank with CompuBank" -- many people may sign up, only to learn that the program is ending 1 or 2 days later. -Sabrina ------------------ Sounds like it's Compubank that's pulling the plug. Here's the link to Brookline: https://www.brooklinesavings.com/prodserv/aboutclickrewards.html Not as sweet a deal, but may be worth checking out. -Sabrina |
I spoke with Evan this morning who wrote the email reply posted in the message above this. He wouldn't come right out and say it but hinted very strongly that it was CompuBank who backed out of the agreement and possibly for financial reasons...Interesting.
The Clickrewards program was the only thing that differentiated them from the rest of the on-line banks. Now what do they have to offer that we couldn't easily get at other banks -- and with higher interest rates! |
PS- to save you from having to read the entire Brookline agreement, there is a monthly $5 service fee unless you have direct deposit. That is the only way I saw to waive it. There are other "types" of checking accounts with fee waivers for minimum balances around $800, but the eChecking account you have to open for the Click Rewards requires a direct deposit set-up for the fee to be waived. I won't be doing it for 500 miles. I am holding out hope there is something better in the works. Did you check out the Capital One offer for opening a CD through Click Rewards? I LMAO when I saw the amount you had to deposit for measely amount of click miles.
