I really like echo. It is actually fun to use and doesn't interfere with applications running at the same time. Plus, their rewards program was unbeatable (actually receiving the rewards-another story). However, in light of these new changes, I probably won't be listening on Echo with any great frequency nor will I be trying to recruit referrals - It's just not worth the effort. By the way, how were they making any money? Do they sell marketing data to music industries and radio?

My guess is like many business plans, they hoped they had a good idea that someone else would pay money for.
I like the idea of echo ... it's a lot like internet radio, but empowers the listener a whole bunch. But eyeballs just don't seem to make enough money these days.

I really like the music selections of echo. I think this is the future of internet music.
This is radio that can meet anyone's taste. And if it doesn't suit your musical taste you can just provide your own program. I really think this is where internet music is heading. You can listen to great music all day long. You can't record it so you are intrigued by the great songs you hear and you are ready to buy some CDs.
I must say that the echo program has interfered with my computer. I crash regularly, but I also have several applications running simultaneously. I just don't have time to earn all the points in the different incentive programs so I have several going at the same time. I keep echo running when I am not doing anything else. $.27/hour was pretty great for listening to good music. $.09/hour is a drastic cut but still covers the electricity costs!
