Greenpoints 12000 Points

Check out the new opportunities at Greenpoints. 2000 points free for signing up for newsletters. 10000 points for joining audio book club for 1 penny. Of course more details there but wanted to post it for you all. Kaching! It was an easy 12,000 points tonight!

Thanks for letting us know. I like the deal for the free newsletters.

However, if I understand the 10,000 point award, you have to join a club that requires that you buy 4 additional audio books at "regular" club prices ranging from $9.95 to $30 each plus postage and handling (at least $4-5 per book). At the very least you will spend $60 for your 10,000 points. If those 10,000 points are converted into frequent flyer miles on DL or AA, you will get 2000 miles (500 miles for each 2500 points) for the $60 you spend. At a generous 2 cents/mile, those 2000 miles are only worth about $40. Did I miss something here?

That sounds right to me Jerry. I happen to love books on tape and have been wanting to join a club anyway. So for me it is like getting the miles for free (since I am buying books on tape all the time). Also, I sent an email to Greenpoints thanking them for the new point earning opportunities. Maybe it is a good idea some of us did that so they know what a motivator it is for traffic to their site and maybe they will have more such offers for earning in the future.

Keith, did you really get 2000 for newsletters? I just went there (thanks for the tip) and could only get 500 for newsletters. Also got 1,000 for a learning CD for my kids. Only other deals were the book club and something called electric odyssey. I wonder if they are giving different people different offers?

Steffo, it's gone now! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif I knew it would not last long. Uh uh uh....

Ganked again! I have a knack for just missing stuff at Greenpoints. Thanks for the tip, and for checking it out, Keith! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hey no problem. I would keep checking if I were you though. The site may have gotten too much traffic and they took it down temporarily. Like you said, with GP it is hit or miss. And I sure hope they do some more of this stuff. Did you see how those points posted instantly? I love it! Remember mypoints? ROFLMAO what a difference!I have a file on them with points I am trying to collect, what a fiasco that group is. I am really liking Greenpoints right about now. G'night for now ladies and gentlemen.

kiethnj,
Did your 10000 points post right away. The 1000 points for the CD and the 500 for the newsletter both posted immediately but the 10000 for the Audio club did not.

keithnj973 Aug 3, 2000 1:21 am

Yes my 10,000 posted immediately. And I received a confirmation email from GP about 5 mins later confirming the deposit of 10,000 points

It looks like we will soon be able to earn greenpoints by playing games, too.

doc -- It never went away (500 points). In the first few hours it was 2,000 points though!

Did you notice that you can now give Greenpoints to a friend ... you type in their e-mail address and the amount to give and your password ...

I hope they know what they're doing and can protect themselves from fraud ...

keithnj973 Aug 4, 2000 3:54 pm

Beckles -yeah that has been around. I have transferred points to my mother in the past. Works fine!

The service from Greenpoints is very professional.

I wanted to transfer points to my wife. It did not work. I e-mailed them and they transfered the miles within minutes. It seems to me, that they have a perfect organisation.
