RyanAir travel problems!
 

I'm not sure if this is where the question should go... but I'll try.

I am a student, studying in Spain for the semester, and I booked a flight through RyanAir about a month ago to go to Paris this weekend. I'm studying in Granada, so there's no direct flights there, so I had to book two round trip flights. One between Granada and Barcelona, and one between Barcelona and Paris.

Yesterday, I was trying to figure out the bus situation, so I took a look at my itinerary to figure out when I'd be arriving everyone, and I noticed a big fat error!!!

Here are what my two itineraries looked like:

FIRST BOOKING
17/4: Granada - Barcelona: departure at 08:15, arrival at 09:35
21/4: Barcelona - Granada: departure at 18:30, arrival at 19:50

SECOND BOOKING
17/4: Barcelona - Paris: departure at 13:50, arrival at 15:00
21/4: Paris - Barcelona: departure at 22:05, arrival at 23:35

As you can see... I won't be arriving in Barcelona until 11:35 pm, and my flight from Barcelona to Granada leaves at 6:30 pm!!!


So... anyway, I've been trying to reach RyanAir customer service all day, and I keep getting a busy signal!!! So I have no idea what to do. I tried calling the Spain number, and it won't let me call by cell phone. So then I tried calling their "rest of world" number, and that's where I keep getting the busy signal!

I have no idea what to do... and I'd really like to get this figured out ASAP as I'm leaving this Thursday, and don't really want to be stuck in Barcelona!

Will I probably end up having to just bite the bullet and order another ticket?

Did they change the schedule on you, or did you book it this way?
If they changed the schedule on you, theoretically they should have to refund your money, but I'm not sure how easily that will happen.
If you made the mistake, I think you can change the booking online, but the price might be equal to a new ticket. Have you tried making this change online? Otherwise, given you don't have much time, the safest thing to do would likely be to order another ticket.
Keep in mind that if Granada - Barcelona is delayed, Ryanair will not help you in any way with the Barcelona - Paris part.

I accidentally booked it that way, unfortunately :(. I got very confused with booking the two flights separately... and *sigh*. Do you think that if I get to the airport early that they'll let me take an "earlier flight", much like US airlines tend to do if they're not overbooked?

Ugh, this is so frustrating. I finally got a hold of customer service and am on hold... So I guess we'll see what they say.

Absolutely no way they will help you. They don't do help.

Go online and change your ticket before the price rises even further. Also, don't forget to reprice a new ticket - it can be cheaper than paying a change fee sometimes.

Hang up the phone and don't waste your money.

No way! It's Ryanair we're talking about here... ;) Seriously, since Ryanair couldn't possibly make any net income on the cheapest tickets, they earn their money on last-minute changes, checked luggage and passenger mistakes.

You need to buy a new ticket.

I believe Vueling flies non stop between Granada and Paris, so in addition to checking prices to fix your Ryanair tickets, you should check out prices to fly non stop - might not be that much more at this point.

Also remember that since the problem is on the return, you could probably use your current tickets for the outbound, then just purchase a new ticket (on a different airline) for the return segment.

Thank you for all the replies! As you all said, their customer service wasn't really "service" at all. I guess that's what happens when you book a 1 cent flight!

Anyway, I've decided to just book a flight from Barcelona to Granada the next morning at 6 am, and spend the night at the airport... as that was the cheapest flight I could find... I'll be sure to bring a nice long book with me!

Just to point out that if you don't make your Barcelona to Paris flight, Ryanair will not help you one iota - except to sell you a ticket for the next flight

As their T&Cs make very clear - it's up to you to make your connections EVEN when Ryanair are the cause of the problem

I think the above posters have all gotten it right. Both Ryanair and EasyJet make it very clear that they don't guarantee any connection of any kind, nor do they owe you anything if you don't make even a POSSIBLE connection -- even if it is entirely their fault that you don't.

They also won't check bags through a connection even if it is entirely on their own airline, as they want to charge you twice for the checked bag and also save costs by not putting any bag transfer procedure in place.

As they make very clear they are point to point airlines therefore they have no need to transfer luggage between flights

Another option to get from Granada to Paris which is slower but I think a nice way to go if you arent in a rush is by train.. Checking on the Deutsche Bahn website I got this train connection

ryanair booking problem

I am Omer from Turkey. I am planing to travel to czech rep this summer. I have decided to go to barcelona from there. I have booked a flight from brno to barcelona. But while I was doing this I made a mistake. I wantted to make an online booking. It asked me if I am EU citizen and I signed yes mistakely. Then I learned that non eu citizens cant make online booking. Do you have an idea about what can I do now ?

Might I suggest "Ruinair" by Paul Kilduff? After your first three Ryanair flights, you might find it highly interesting reading. ^^
