Yes, if you search for 6 pers, you will all end up paying the next higher fare. You need to book 4+2 - and it doesn't matter if 1 or 2 reservations because even pax in the same reservation will not be seated together.
Do remember that FR fares tend to be at the lowest 2-4 weeks before departure so you need to sit tight and wait for the fares to drop (unless you are already looking for fares a few weeks out).

What does FR stand for please? (I searched the glossary but couldn't find a term that made sense)
