Kosher Food on Cathay Pacific/Dragonair
when i went to the cathay website to request my kosher meal, there were two options 1. Kosher-Kedassia 2.Kosher-Local. now its hard for me to imagine they would have kosher food from england on a flight from del-hkg or hkg-pvq, so am i better off ordering the local option? i dont want to order the kedassia and then be stuck with nothing. unless of course they have the "saichel" to realize that if they cant get the kedassia to automatically switch it to the other kosher option, but you can never know. any experience?

Most probably because many international travellers will not rely on the local kashrus so will prefer something they are familiar with, namely kedassia. It is likely that the kedassia option will be all frozen and the local option may be part fresh, which is why other may prefer to choose that option.

Kedassia probabaly means Hemolis and I was only disappointed twice with their meals.
Once out of DUB the entree was a side dish or all vegatables no meat (and no it wasnt during the 9 days)
The 2nd time was SAS out of CPH it was falafel
both times there was enough other items on the tray to hold off any hunger pains
By in large Hemolis I feel is the best food up in teh air and wish I could get it every time from everywhere

CX has stocks of frozen Hermolis meals in HKG and that's what you'll get on pretty much any of their Asia or UK flights. I enjoyed a rather nice Grilled Salmon and Rice Pilaf on a SHA-HKG flight recently.

Comment:
While the lunch was reasonably ok, the entree of breakfast was awful. Except sausage, everything was tasteless (not even the beans and tomato)
Crew service was excellent, however!

Both felt fresh especially the salmon starter. Bread was soft in both brands.
Hermolis was a lot more tasty. As for the entree, Langerhuize's lunch (minced meat with rice) was only reasonably ok but the breakfast scrambled egg was totally tasteless.
Hermolis also seals the entree better. Langerhuize's entree plastic lid cover was partially fused with the outer bag, so when I opened Langerhuize's entree outer bag the inner lid covering the bowl was peeled open as well. Hermolis' dessert won by miles. For fruit, Langerhuize was slightly better because it seemed to be more freshly prepared than Hermolis which felt from canned cut fruit.
Langerhuize's coffee paper cup was flimsy. I wouldn't pour hot drink into it.
The downside with Hermolis is that there box is too large. I had exit row economy seat so already had extra space but the box was too large to fit table top.
In both flights CX FAs were very helpful with KSML and they didn't show that I was bothering them at all.

Review: Another nice tasty meal made by Hermolis. But both fish for appetizer and entrée is repetitive. Thanks for the seat upgrade! ;-)

Review: Hermolis never fails to impress me! LIGHTYEARS better than Stogel long-life!
Also KA flight attendants were more consistent in letting pax to inspect seal of the box than CX crew.

KSML Kosher Meal on KA483 TPE-HKG (2018 Nov)
KSML Kosher Meal on KA483 TPE-HKG (9pm departure), 2018 Nov
Business Class
Stogel long-life
Review: WORST airline food ever. Total disaster. Entree was too salty and the rice was totally soaked in some sauce which tasted like extra-salty version of Campbell's chicken with noodle soup. Chicken fillet was very tough and dry. Apple and apricot compote, vanilla pudding and tuna cocktail all tasted artifical and looked absolutely disgusting.
Overall speaking, it was simply not suitable for human consumption (best before date: May 14, 2020). (Maybe the three foil cups were to be served with crackers, but I didn't try.) Only the entree was marginally acceptable if hungry.
To KA: is your passenger a joke to you?
